Poor Stem. He can't win with the critics and he can't win with the TBMs. He's like bcspace, but with softer edges. He is getting a little more aggressive, though, these days.
I really don't mind Stem. I think he feels that he is doing a service by defending, in anyway that he can, his beliefs. He also provides a great topic for conversation.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

I do not dislike stemelbow, but given his penchant for throwing under the bus the doctrinal issues and historical problems with Mormonism that he cannot explain away I would suggest the purpose of his posting is to justify himself in remaining a Mormon.
His characteristic of calling people out for behaviours that he himself displays is perhaps his most disingenuous.
But he's a trier, and God loves a trier.

I very highly dislike them.
Is it viewed as a necessary evil or just more fun for the board?
None of the above.
The reason I despise them is because they artificially inflate our membership numbers.
Just so you know, you will find that both Franktalk and I transmit from the same IP address, though we each have our own computer and keyboard. He won't use my keyboard because I use it so much you can't read the letters on it anymore...so he's stuck using his own computer. We are husband and wife; and no, he doesn't only do what I tell him to do. He very much has a mind of his own and one huge ego. Me; not so much.......
We were both almost banned from T-web when first he was accused of being my alter-ego. Then second when they discovered we used the same IP address. And a fun time was had by all!!

And this is exactly why we don't have a hard and fast rule in place, and don't just take it for granted that someone is a sock puppet, merely because the same IP address is present. There are just too many variables with static IP's and proxy IP's available.
We do try to take people at their word here, and hope for the best.

ludwigm, being in a vastly different time zone than most of us, is here to do the post-show wrap-ups each day. He does a good job, and could always get on the staff as a writer for the Daily Show.
Yes, I have a bad status. I am not only "of the world", I am "of the old world".

One quick story then I'll offer my take on this whole episode.
I cleaned out the shed at my house on Saturday. It felt so good to get it done and before winter really hit--everything's nicely organized and when my boy gets out to winter camping and snowboarding the place will get all messy again. Ah well. I came inside to find my 13 year old and his friend down stairs playing some videa game. I sat for a few to chat with the kids to my delight. Within a few minutes we heard someone come down the stairwell and low and behold some kid with down syndrome was standing at our light switch with a big grin offerin' us a "hello".
"uh, well hello there. The kids here are playing video games you want to try?" I motioned to my son to offer him his control toy.
The kid excitedly took it. We figured my wife let him in and knew who he was. But it was odd she didn't say anything or come down. I headed up stairs and my son followed.
"uh...who's the kid that came downstairs?" I asked my lovely wife.
"what kid? Is Niklas here again?"
"no. some other blond haired kid"
she went down stairs and knew who he was. Apparently he is our neighbor’s grandson who let himself in. We called over there and they were all going crazy wondering where he was. When they came by to pick him up he came upstairs with cheetos stuffed in his mouth and orange residue on his mouth and fingers. He was all guilty looking and his older sister played the part of a disappointed adult as she said, “come on” with her hands on her hips. He walked toward her with his head down and disappointed as she put her arm around him and guided him back out.
I’m eager to get to know that kid some more.
DJ’s repeated exploitation of autism isn’t the same as this. Mattie’s point was not to say I have down syndrome. Her point was more along the lines of the ganging up mentality on others. DJ’s use was far more problematic in my estimation, but the other example provide by Mattie was pretty pathetic too. I feel for Mattie. I don’t think she’s able to quite square the hostility of this joint with reality…oh wait that’s my thing too. Well, what can ya say.
As for that thread, I don’t know what Mattie’s issue was. I spanked old DJ nicely again. Surely this joint can be rather obscure, as there are maybe 100 or so people who post here and read here, and also house the words from Schryver that are problematic from the perspective of the Maxwell Institute. This place doesn’t have to have a lot of traffic or have much influence at all for the words he put down to be problematic. No one wants to be associated with those pathetic comments he offered when speaking to some of the women posters here. Dj seems to think there is some sort of double standard going on when I say that, but boy is he wrong. Words here can be sent all over the web within seconds. Surely we can clearly see how this place, though obscure relatively speaking, can have some of Will’s words/ideas/comments that the Maxwell Institute doesn’t want to be associated with.
Love ya tons, Stem
I ain't nuttin'. don't get all worked up on account of me.
