Christians? LOL-I don't think so.

I think that it's more of a function of cognitive disconnect than anything else.

Yea, me too.

They treat church as part of their social life, their work as their professional life, and the two don't overlap much.

Agreed!

As it were, when we went to this national chain restaurant where I did not leave a tip, my daughter's basketball team was acting as wait staff as a fundraiser for their team and the tips were included in the ticket. After the team's cut, I paid
12$ for a plate of pancakes.

Despite the provocative article, maybe things aren't always as clear as described.

Crazy catholic.

Incidentally, if I had to guess, I'd say that catholics are among the best tippers, especially after church and some wine transubstantiation.

The "Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas.
There are many stories reflect to it. Impressions.
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

In that case, they have no business going into the restaurant.

I Amen'd that when Schmo stated it, and I'll Amen it again! :-)

Also, I don't know about Christians being cheap, but Mormons sure are. Mormons also have an entitlement complex. If you go into business with them, they expect a discount or a deal based on the fact that they are Church members. I currently have no voice students who are Church members because they cannot afford my fee and I refuse to discount it.

Probably a function of the church eating up everyone's disposable (and not so disposable) income.

Some Schmo wrote:Hey Ceeboo, I worded that carefully based on the content of the article. They even pointed out that not all christians are cheap (which should be obvious based on the size of the group), just that they are more likely to be cheap than other demographics, which is why I asked what I did.

I know not all christains are cheap bastards. Given how many are in this country, it would make being a server an extremely unattractive choice of professions if they all were. All I'm asking is why do you suppose they are more likely to be cheap.

Do we have any statistical data that can show that they are more cheap on tips then other groups? I know some other groups where my expereince would suggest they are also cheap. This is not based on waiting, since I have never been a waiter.

Hey Themis,

They cited a study in the article I linked.
