I don't know. He did perform a few miracles. The point was: when the poor give, they are blessed. And I have never met a hungry Mormon. The church is there to support its needy. The poor Mormons do just fine and the LDS church welfare system is highly respected and envied.

You know, I've been ignoring you, but what the hell.
The church does not frown upon guilt, you don't know what the f*** you are talking about.
Did you read the article? It seems that mercy is the word of the day in that article. How do you explain the article?

You've met very few Mormons period. I've met tons of hungry Mormons.
The resources set aside for the poor are very limited - as opposed to the resources set aside for business interests, first class travel for GA, banquets, fine vehicles, etc.

Meet a hungry Mormon.
Maria was trained as a nurse in Mexico, but without papers she can't get nursing jobs. She lost a series of odd jobs because of her status as an illegal before finally landing a part-time job at a restaurant that doesn't ask questions. She makes about $7 an hour, which is not enough. Her Mormon church ward pays her mortgage and does the best she can to cover other expenses. Each month she sits at the kitchen table in front of the bills and decides which ones she can pay. She can't afford to pay them all, so she sends the most urgent a partial payment. The water company has shut off her water a couple of times.
Sometimes she gets scared, she says. Scared that she will be discovered and put in jail. "Then what would happen to my kids?" she says.
She looks around the room again. There are cracks in the ceiling. An old rug has been thrown over the kitchen floor to cover the exposed sub-flooring. Drawers are missing from the unpainted kitchen cabinets. A makeshift beam has been wedged into the kitchen ceiling to keep it from falling.
She points to wall decorations and furniture and notes how she afforded them at the thrift store — 50 cents for this decoration, $5 for that print on the wall that she patched, $100 for the kitchen table, $75 for the sofa.
"It's some place to live — and the kids have something to eat," she concludes.
The only sound in the house is the rushing of cars and trucks as they blaze by only 20 yards from her living room. And yet she prefers to sleep on the couch in the noisy living room at the front of the house rather than in a bedroom in back.
"Too lonely," she says. The kids usually sleep there with her, all of them curled up on the couch or on floor cushions, with the TV and each other for company.
"It's a hard life," she sighs, "but it's better than being in Mexico."
Why Me, can you point out the 'blessings' this woman receives from paying tithing?

You're fine. No guilt.

I only read the article that I linked. I see that guilt is frowned upon. And mercy is the key word in that GC talk. But it is okay to laugh at me. No guilt necessary or remorse. I have a lot of mercy inside me as you can tell from me on this board.

Once I saw the church literally save the life of a child. Once my companion and I visited a member's house, and their 3-month-old infant was very close to death from dysentery and dehydration. I had in my pocket a recipe for rehydration, so I gave the father some money to buy the ingredients (simple things such as baking soda and salt) at the corner store. We fed the baby the "suero," and within an hour, he was doing significantly better. The next time we came by, he was fine.

We all make mistakes. Sometimes we harm ourselves and seriously injure others in ways that we alone cannot repair. We break things that we alone cannot fix. It is then in our nature to feel guilt and humiliation and suffering, which we alone cannot cure. That is when the healing power of the Atonement will help.
The Lord said, “Behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent.” 18
If Christ had not made His Atonement, the penalties for mistakes would be added one on the other. Life would be hopeless. But He willingly sacrificed in order that we may be redeemed. And He said, “Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.” 19

I read the article. Nowhere in it does it say that guilt is "frowned upon."
In fact, guilt is the spirit's way of knowing that there is a problem...repentance is needed.
Guilt works like pain telling us that we need to do something to cure it. We need to repent and change, be obedient to the commandments of the church. Then, the guilt will go away.
That is what the stupid article says.
