I only read the article that I linked. I see that guilt is frowned upon. And mercy is the key word in that GC talk. But it is okay to laugh at me. No guilt necessary or remorse. I have a lot of mercy inside me as you can tell from me on this board.

What's your guilt free view of the aaronic Priesthood lesson that Just Me posted?

In fact, guilt is the spirit's way of knowing that there is a problem...repentance is needed.

Guilt works like pain telling us that we need to do something to cure it. We need to repent and change, be obedient to the commandments of the church. Then, the guilt will go away.

That is what the stupid article says.

He also says that it is human nature to feel guilt and that is true. Guilt is apart of our nature. But we don't need to dwell in guilt. We can repent and be forgiven and feel joy once more through the atonement. I see nothing wrong in this at all.

When we do wrong it would be extremely dangerous not to feel remorse or guilt. A sociopath or a psychopath feels no empathy, nor guilt. Think what a society of sociopaths would bring to the table.

In contrast to the hard words condemning sin, listen to the calming, healing words of mercy, which balance the harsher words of justice
. << from the above article. Are you sure you know what the church teaches?

We all make mistakes. Sometimes we harm ourselves and seriously injure others in ways that we alone cannot repair. We break things that we alone cannot fix. It is then in our nature to feel guilt and humiliation and suffering, which we alone cannot cure. That is when the healing power of the Atonement will help.

The Lord said, “Behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent.” 18

If Christ had not made His Atonement, the penalties for mistakes would be added one on the other. Life would be hopeless. But He willingly sacrificed in order that we may be redeemed. And He said, “Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.”

• How do people often feel when they have done something they should not have done or have not done something they know they should have done? (Guilty.)

• How can guilt feelings be bad? How can they be good?

Explain that many people today say that feelings of guilt are not good. However, Alma told his son Corianton something very important about guilt feelings.
Have the young men read and mark Alma 42:29–30.

Why did Alma tell Corianton to let his sins trouble him? (Feeling guilty should lead him to repent.)

When should we have guilt feelings? (When we have done something wrong and need to repent.)

What good should come from our guilt feelings? (We should recognize our sins and then repent of them.)

• Why did Alma caution Corianton not to excuse himself for his sins?

How might we persuade ourselves to overlook or excuse our sins?

Super pro-guilt, whyme.

Actually, it's good that you're posting on this one. You're the only (sorta) Mormon I've met with no conscience at all. You frequently rubbed your penis against the legs of your dates until you ejaculated into your clothing. No real Mormon could do that without feeling intense, soul-crushing guilt. So perhaps Mormonism, the premier religion of Guilt and Shame, is the perfect one for you, since you felt perfectly at ease committing all kinds of sins most heinous in Mormon theology without even a twinge of guilt. You should go back to church.

Are you a sociopath, why me? After all, you never felt guilty about your law of chastity violations.

Do you think Methodists, Lutherans, Catholics, Baptists, and other religious people who don't experience as much guilt as Mormons are more dangerous or more sociopathic than Mormons?

Guilt is apart of our human nature and we should give thanks for it. Without it, we would become a society of psychopaths and sociopaths. But we can release ourselves from guilt through repentace as the article stresses.

It would be very dangerous if we humans begin to lose feelings of remorse or guilt. But I do think that it is happening more and more now. Sad.

You should write a letter to your Stake President and ask if your light cotton activities should give you cause for guilty feelings.

Let me put it this way: when we humans lose feelings of guilt for hurting others or if we lose feelings of remorse, then we are in danger of becoming a sociopathic society. And yes, as we become more of an eat, drink, be merry and screw others society, then we are in danger of losing our humanness and what it means to be humane. We become nothing but humanoids.

Mormonism prevents psychopathic and sociopathic tendencies, who knew. Why Me, you'd best get back to Church before you inadvertently kill someone...

No guilt feelings at all. And none on her part either. But such was NYC life in the 70's.

But if I were a hurtful person and caused the suffering of countless of people and felt no guilt...well....I would be a sociopath who depended only on god's mercy without changing my hurtful ways.
