I believe we're beginning to hit the nail on the head here. Most of you are in denial about sex and sexual attraction and you blame it's negative consequences on the Church or Christianity in general. Talk about shifting the blame!

Actually, many of us see sexuality and sexual attraction as a beautiful and amazing part of human life.

As do I. But do you believe then that one should foster an atmosphere of enhanced public sexual attraction even if one does not desire sex at the moment or if other than our spouse is around?

bcspace, if you ever grow up and drop your Puritanical LDS ideals, for the first time in your life you'll be able to be confronted with attractive people in beach clothing without freaking out. :)

What puritanical ideals do you think I hold?

Sexual attraction exists. The problem is, for thousands of years, religion has blamed women for it.

Thankfully the LDS Church has never done that. But the LDS Church has blamed both men and women for unwarranted enhancement of sexual attraction.

It is never, EVER a woman's fault for being raped or brutalized. So just stop.

Stop what? When did I ever say it is a woman's fault for being raped or brutalized? But do you deny that it is never a woman's fault if she engages in premarital sex or adultery?

You said this: "we can and do control our thoughts and actions, but why make it more difficult for us." If you are one of "us," then yes, you did say that girls in bikinis make it harder for you/us to control our thoughts and actions.

So then do you then deny that girls in bikinis have no effect on anyone?

We are responsible for the effect they have on us. Seems fairly obvious.

Assuming that "girls in bikinis" have an effect on most males, even you, how is it an abdication to ask that such an effect be removed? If the neighbors dog craps on your lawn, is it your responsibility to pick it up?

That's a really bad analogy, bc. The girls are not doing anything to you, not violating your space, not crapping on your lawn. They certainly aren't responsible for what you think. If the color blue makes me angry, should I ask everyone in the world to stop wearing blue?

Again, stop placing the blame for personal lust on others. It's bad form.

I think that's the fundamental misunderstanding. The rest of us have no problem with sexual attraction. BC Space sees it as a problem that needs a solution.

I have a solution for bcspace.

Do you claim that no one on this board has ever claimed LDS teachings on sex and modesty to be Puritanical or repressive?

How you got that from anything I wrote is beyond me. Unbelievable. I guess liberals have problems with reading comprehension.

I generally agree. Ladies, yes we can and do control our thoughts and actions, but why make it more difficult for us and why send the wrong signals about yourselves?

What does this have to do with anything? Are you saying that, were you to rape someone, you would make sure to pick someone you found attractive? So women should never try to look nice in public because perverts, like yourself, might put them at the top of their rape list? Nice, I love how you say its not the womans fault and then proceed to explain how the woman brought it on herself by trying to look nice...Pervert.

I feel like i am speaking to a rapist here and you are giving us the criteria that you use to choose your victims. You disgust me.

Yes, the church is very good at giving women a share of the blame for things that men are fully responsible for - you know, like lustful thoughts and rape.

I said nothing about blaming the church or religion, nor did I say anything denying sexual attraction.

I said that it's up to us to deal with our sexual desires instead of blaming others for our lack of maturity and perspective.
