The OP posted about
pinterest, on Mormon Discussions, with the explicit purpose of discussing its relation to Mormonism. Blixa commented that the site was "banal" and "horrific," on Mormon Discussions, and concerning its relationship to Mormonism (as stated by the OP).
I've never seen Blixa describe an anti-Mormon website as "horrific" or "banal." Take a look at
Metcalfe's site, or
Infymus' site, both of which which clearly qualify, at least as "horrific"; I believe Blixa would never say such things about them.
To reiterate, I never said she was a "bigot" in this thread, and, though I may have said that in the past I have since apologized.
It's only because I've had no sleep for over 48 hours and am in some kind of advanced fugue state that I'm even staring at your remarks with bewilderment. Why I'm answering them, though, I have no explanation for.
Again, can you read? I called the website's
DESIGN horrifying.
I called its
CONTENT banal.
I didn't proclaim the site itself to be "horrific," nor it's reputed popularity among some Mormon women. The OP asked 1) if anyone here used the site and 2) if anyone here thinks it is as popular with all women as some Mormon girls that Rambo knows think it is.
In other words, the OP was asking people what they thought of the website.
Stak replied that he didn't even know what the website was.
Steelhead says his wife loves it and all the Mormon girls he knows love it too.
Brade said his wife liked it and found it useful and then joked that maybe he should use it too for controversial Mormon topics.
Just Me said she'd never heard of it.
Then I entered the thread. I looked at the link, thought it was hard to navigate and filled with the kind of content that is found on many other social sharing sites. Thus my reply.
Do I need to go on? Do you need to have stories read aloud to you? Perhaps you do.
Just me looked at the site some more and loved it!
Rambo then decided it really was a girly thing if Just Me described it as Martha Steward on steroids.
Just Me told Rambo he could find cute pictures of girls on it, so give it another try. She also mentioned that there was nothing particularly Mormon about the site since all kinds of topics that would not appeal to Mormons were represented there as well.
Just Me posted a picture of a cake that I found particularly gross but didn't comment on.
Just Me posted a picture of some nail polish and asked my opinion, but I forgot to reply.
BCSpace found a cake he thought looked really yummy.
Zeezrom popped up with an account of his wife's "cool people" list on the site.
Sock Puppet seconded BC's cake's yumminess and joked about the cake's symbolic light/dark icing.
At this point I made my second comment on the thread to the effect that fondant icing is a curse on the modern world.
So what happened next? More cake pictures? Rambo and Just Me trading pics of cute guys and gals? Other people talking about whether they know the site or use it?
NO.
YOU SHOW UP AND CLAIM THAT I'VE CALLED PINTEREST HORRIFIC AND BANAL ONLY BECAUSE ITS POPULAR WITH Mormons.
wtf?
Can you not see how bizarre such a statement reads at that point in the thread? The alleged "Mormon connection" of pinterest was not even the main topic of conversation in the thread at that point. People were chatting and joking about the site and any remarks I'd made were either forgotten or irrelevant to the general conversation. But oh no, Simon-must-find-and-denounce-anti-mormonism-no-matter-how-nonexistant-Belmont finds something to take offense at. Because that's why he's here.
Let me add a few more things before I snap out of whatever psychotic break I'm obviously experiencing as evidenced by my even replying to your nonsense.

It is true that I am no longer a formal member of the LDS Church. But, Simon, I am still very much a Mormon in ways that you'll probably never understand, and a better Mormon than many that are still on the record books.
And it is a damned lie that I hold the church in contempt and that what I write here is evidence of that. I
am critical of aspects of the current institutional configuration of the LDS Church, as are many believing members. But I do not hold the entirety of Mormonism in contempt nor do I despise it. In fact, it is because of my sincere respect for its best aspirations that I am critical of Mormonism when it falls short.
And if you have ever really read the things I write on this message board you would certainly be aware that I have a tremendous fondness, a real love, for some of the homely (in the original sense) features of Mormon culture.
The only thing I have to say to you Simon is what I think I've always said to you. You really need to read a whole lot more. I suppose I should now amend that to: and you need to learn to better read that which you do.
