How should Newt respond? I think he should praise Romney for having such a long lasting marriage and then ask if he expects to be married to other women in the hereafter.

If one looks at Newt's serial affairs while he was married to his first two wives, and his looking out for number 1, himself, I can see a self absorbed narcy who thinks only about himself.

Obama wants Newt because Newt has more skeleton's in his closet.

Romney will then probably state that he has no intention to be with any other woman than his wife. Gingrich will then have the opportunity to state that he along with most Americans don't really know much about the "Mormon" religion except that polygamy is often associated with it. He might even finish off with the question: "Do you think it is more wrong that I have been married and divorced a few times or that Joseph Smith, the founder of your religion, married young girls and other married women?"

I don't think that religion will come up at all since newt is now a catholic and vunerable with right wing christians. Also, actively being critical of someone elses religion will only backfire in the long run. Why alienate a potential voter block such as the Mormons?

He should respond that Romney has cheated on every political position he's ever held at least three times. (So has Newt on a lot of things but it's the best route to go on the attack).

Sorry for the derail, my friend. I just have to say that I found out this morning that Mitt's kids are my 4-th cousins. His great-grandfather (Miles Park Romney) is my greatx3 grandfather or so. Cool!

Despite Newt's "actual" moral mistakes of the past, not those being lied about, Newt WILL win the Presidency. Because no matter what candidate we get, Republicans will be fighting to get Obama out, and so will Independents.

Further, Newt is FAR less left than McCain was and Obama barely pulled that one off.
There is no way in heck Gingrich or anyone on the Republican side will loose the election.
(Although I would be "slightly" concerned if Ron Paul or Bachmann got it, though even then people would likely still bite the bullet.)

by the way, I just wanted to educate folks..... Romney has been lied about, and conservatives have fallen for them, just like anti-mormons do with Mormonism.

Gingrich fit the role of the loyal opposition to Bill Clinton, but I can't picture him as the President.

Good point, Gingrich was the epitome of good attack dog. Wide snarling jaws, sharp teeth, keen nose for blood and fecal material, even an overpowering doggy breath. But as a leader? He has all that baggage of things said, done and written.

I suspect Romney is in for it. No one can go "sub" (Gingrich's term for horrendous negative attacks) as well as Newt. Hopefully Mormons will not receive any collateral damage in the blow back.
