In my opinion, the article and captions painted life in Happy Valley with way too broad of a brush. "_____ is forbidden," "_____ must cease," etc. May have held true in his own family, but human beings are far too complex to always fit into such broad generalizations, Mormonism or no Mormonism.
If he had been careful enough to say that such was the norm in his own family, or even if he'd only said that such behaviors are ideal according Mormon teachings, I'd have no issue with any part of the photo essay.
Plus, if I was an outside observer, I would mistakenly conclude that Mormons never smile unless they're dressed up as Jesus.
A fair assessment. I agree.

Doctor Scratch wrote:Simon, what do you think DCP's intentions were in commenting? I.e., if he only had negative things to say, what was the value in his saying anything at all?
Zinger, Dr Scratch. Simon continually gripes that we all should only say something if it is something positive. But here DCP felt the need to say nothing but negative, and our own Mr Postive-Speak-Only, Simon Belmont, is defending his Negative Emminence, DCP.
So, if you're on Team LDS, then it's okay to say negative things. But woe be unto him that is not on Team LDS and says anything negative. The wrath of Simon will be visited upon him.

Wow, Sock Puppet! You have totally missed my point.
Scratch said that DCP's comments represented a "nuclear-grade meltdown" and a "vicious gang attack." I simply asked for a citation of just one of DCP's comments on that photo essay that could be called such sensational, emotional, and extreme adjectives.

My point is our Mr Positive-Speak-Only is here defending DCP, Mr Negative-Speak, obviously because DCP is on Team LDS.

Perhaps you can find a "nuclear-grade meltdown" or "vicious gang attack" worthy comment by DCP on that page?

I found the same value in his comments that I found in the other viewers comments: a different perspective/point of view/opinion.
No doubt you feel the same way about Darth J's comments on LDS teachings. That's what a Mormonism-related forum is for.

Yup.
Now then, have you found that "nuclear-grade meltdown" or "vicious gang attack" worthy comment by DCP on that page? I mean, you said it existed, so where is it?

It's right there, among all the comments, Simon. Have fun reading!

I've read them three times now. Can't find a "nuclear-grade meltdown" or "vicious gang attack" worthy comment by DCP. Can't you link me to just one? I know why you keep avoiding the question, though: the comment in question simply doesn't exist.
Nice dodge, but it won't work.
