About half of the captions under the photos were misrepresentations.

misrepresentations based on whose criteria? It is the author's viewpoints, which make it his art and his experience, not yours.

Why don't you take your own set of photos of the Mormon experience and label it according to the representations that you believe are appropriate. That would be interesting. I would imagine that the busy body members such a DCP and those other self appointed vanguards of the faith would quickly dismantle your representations as "misrepresentations".

You could do a whole set of photos Simon, on the Mormon experience of disobeying prophetic counsel to skip a mission.

I do not discount the author's/photographer's experiences (read Shades' post above). He makes it sound like they are the norms of LDS culture -- and they aren't.

Belmont,

A bit of background is called for. I work with children. Little ones. I am known for having an enormous and deep capacity for patience with children, even those with challenging behaviors. I've enjoyed that reputation for well over 20 years now. You see, I understand children and how brain development and their lack of social experience guides their choices.

That said, I have almost no patience at all for adults who persist in acting foolishly under the guise of having something useful to say or contribute. Starting last night, your posts ranked you in first place on my list of "utter fools" on account of your endless blathering about "show me the nuclear-grade meltdown" without having ever read or examined:

1. The article in question.
2. The photo's and their captions.
3. The very thread that you yourself are blathering on.

FYI: Scratch already addressed the issue about what constituted the "nuclear -grade meltdown that you continue to hop up and down about, several pages back in the thread.

Now, might you consider scrolling back the pages until you find it instead of annoying and nagging the hell out of every living creature who is viewing or posting on this board for that content?

Thanks ever so much.

And Belmont?

Should you ever seen me in a tangle with one or more posters on this board or hell, even ALL of the posters on this board, please resist the temptation to bail me. I could do far better defending myself on my own with both hands tied behind my back rendering me totally unable to post.

Hang on a minute...

You're okay with people over-exaggerating what someone else says or does in a half-decade long crusade to make that person look bad, but you aren't okay when I don't immediately answer your question (because someone else, in fact, did, and he did it well). I pointed you to the post I most agreed with. Why must I type it out again for you?

I looked at the photos (not all bad), I read the essay, and I read the captions under the photos. I also read the comments multiple times searching for a "nuclear-grade" meltdown or a "vicious gang attack," but what I found was DCP being his sarcastic self. Must he always be overly nice and ultra-pleasant?

Defending DCP is not as important to me as defending those who are constantly misrepresented, no matter who they are. As I said, if Scratch posted under his real name, and someone was misrepresenting him for 5+ years, I would defend him, too. I don't agree with it. I think people should let other people live their lives. I think people should leave others alone to do and seek what makes them happy. Who cares what DCP does or doesn't do? Don't you get tired of Infymus and Scratch posting a new thread each time DCP takes a dump? I mean, really?

I have no quarrel with you, Jersey Girl, I just can't understand why you back the most vicious people and attack a mild-mannered one.

Simon Belmont:

I eagerly encourage you to post your own comments in defense of Peterson, or any other comments you might have, on Time's website. A person with your demonstrated ability to present well-reasoned, persuasive arguments, your unquestionable intellectual honesty, as well as all of the signs in your posts confirming your extensive scholarly knowledge of Mormon history and graduate-level education in philosophy, is sure to create an impressive image of what Mormons are like.

Perhaps you could also share your testimony of the power of the Atonement.

P.S. What if, instead of trillions of penises violating Christ against His will, it was just one penis that was representative of all the rapists throughout mankind's existence, and that penis penetrated our Lord and Savior trillions of times? Has that idea occurred to you, or are you sticking with the hypothesis that you previously, and reverently, shared with this board?

Yup. It was ludicrous. He basically said (paraphrasing) (1) It's right there in the comments! Have fun reading. Then, later (2) It's not the comments, its the sum total of DCP's actions.

If it's (2), then why say it's in the comments? Why declare that DCP's comments in that specific article constitute a "nuclear-grade meltdown" if you meant to say it was the sum total of DCP as a person?

Hell damned no! Of course you didn't look for it. You're not interested in answers. You're interested in glutting up a thread with repeated demands to "show me the nuclear-grade meltdown" than you are:

1. Reading and responding "on point" to the post I made to you.
2. Reading the very thread you've been tripping through for the last couple of days.

I, more than generously, told you that Scratch already addressed what constituted a "nuclear-grade meltdown" and you totally blew it off with yet more blithering!

A normal person would say, "Thanks, I'll look for it". But not you, Simon.

How about just regular exaggerating, Simon, instead of "over-exaggerating"? Would that be acceptable?

Anyway, please continue with your attempting to take issue with Scratch's metaphor, notwithstanding your inadvertently betraying that you did not understand it.

In other words, carry on with your unending train wreck:
