It is common among a certain class of people to belittle this website, to call it what are meant to be insulting nicknames (which say more about the class assumptions of the name callers than the name called), to constantly whine and whimper about the intellectual content of board discussion, or to even throw troll tantrums at the mere mention of the Maxwell Institute's anointed.
I've often pointed out how different my experiences of the board have been from such nonsense, and today I have once more experienced a revelation of the true character of Mormon Discussions. I feel impressed to bear my testimony that truly This Is The Place: the place to make real and true friendships forged from loving kindness and generosity of spirit.
Today I returned home after my usual hour and a half commute, exhausted from the trench warfare of the final weeks of the semester. At the bottom of the three flight stairway to my apartment I came upon a package. I opened it carefully, wary of any salamander or evil presence that might impede my grasping the treasure within. I muttered some half-masonic oaths as I tore through the bright wrapping paper to reveal a tablet. A tablet and stylus of curious digital workmanship rather than gold, upon which I can engrave a record of my tribe in cryptic symbols and ciphers. A message from the angel "Santa" was included, thanking me for not hiding my light under a bushel but instead sharing it with others in true fellowship.
I'm moved more than mere satire can convey.
God bless us every one! (Void where prohibited.)
