Instead of telling people to use tobacco to cure bruises, tell them to drink sanitized water, wash their hands and bathe frequently, and watch out for mosquitoes that carry disease. Seems like that would be more useful.

The only thing I ask of you Zeez is that you don't use KJVesque language in your scripture. Don't make Joseph Smith's rookie mistake.

Re: Opinions *Before* I Start Writing Scripture
You know, Zee, I thought very seriously about writing sacred text at one time.
I think the important thing is to write what is in your heart. Write to inspire and motivate and uplift.
Do not pretend for your sacred text to be anything it is not. People write what I would consider sacred writings all the time and it's totally uncontroversial.
There will always be haters. Every book has its critics. Don't worry about that. Write to your audience.

Isn't the whole point of scripture to point out rules and what happens (in this life or next) when someone chooses to follow or not follow the rules? The problem I see with scripture is the "us vs them" mentality. Seems to me that the true antagonist is and will always be oneself.

Excellent advice. Basically, you could have your deity instruct people to follow the dictates of the best medical science.

I think that a lot of sacred texts have to do with the ego, mindfulness, inner knowing and things that pertain only to the individual.
Certainly we see lots of rules of conduct and punishments in certain scriptures, but there is a big wide world of sacred text out there.
I also would agree that there seems to be an "us vs them" mentality or an elitist quality to most sacred texts and most expecially most, if not all, religions and even philosophies. That is what basically turned me off of all organized religious thought. Although, we see it even in nationalism. It seems to be hard for humans to avoid.

Just Me,
As much as I would love to write from my heart, I cannot. For I am bound by the dictates of God, who wishes that I write from Her heart. I am a mere instrument.
But thanks anyway for the most excellent advice!
Zee.

Re: Opinions *Before* I Start Writing Scripture
by the way,
I am considering a translation of ancient writings. Since I am fairly ignorant on the subject, I was wondering if someone might be so kind as to point me to ancient text that remains unknown by the secular scribes.
I found some good starting points here: http://www.omniglot.com/writing/undeciphered.htm
But maybe there is a better text out there. Any ideas?
Thank you.
Zee

Zee, I would like to suggest the idea that Her words are written in your heart already...and perhaps that She resides there, as well.

Damn. I admit check or possibly checkmate.
You will note, however, that prophets of old were pushed to say and do things that didn't align with their hearts. Book of Mormon prophets didn't even know why they were writing - they told us they know not, save the Lord has something up his sleeve. 1 Nephi 9:5
While I might write somewhat from my own heart, I plan to give the world pure revelation, direct from God.
