Or is it like the US senate where their cost of living allowance automatically increases unless they vote (receive a revelation) to not increase it?
When you consider the pay of Senators, CEOs, and men of equal stature to the Brethren in the corporate world, the stipend they receive is very modest.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

I don't think that there is another church in the world that helps its poor like the LDS church does. Does that sit well with you? And as you know, the LDS church is also there for you if you and your family are in need. Now isn't that nice?
How many churches in the world do you know of that bought a low-rent motel and evicted the poor people who were living there shortly before Christmas so the motel could be demolished while awaiting a decision about what commercial use could be put to the land? http://www.standard.net/topics/lds-chur ... oses-doors

Indeed. Their stipend is also modest in comparison to that given to certain members of royal families throughout the world.
And what the Bretheren provide in return for that stipend is also comparatively modest.

And how do they compare to Jesus and his original 12 apostles?

Following the wonderful portrayal of Lorenzo Snow having a stroke at the pulpit, this movie does show quite a bit of time passing between people starting to get with the program on tithing and rain actually coming. It even shows a couple members of the Church on their farm being quite concerned that they are paying tithing but it still is not raining. Even Lorenzo Snow is depicted being worried about this. (by the way, did anyone else notice that they filmed part of this in the Beehive House?)
Also, I hereby prophesy that if people will continue to post messages on Mormon Discussions, eventually it will rain.
Thanks. I really couldn't remember. It's been years since I saw that movie. I did like the message, though: if you pay tithing, it will rain in St. George.
