Maybe if you tell her that while Christmas in NYC sounds fun its actually not the best time to visit: overrun with tourists and freezing cold! I had to go into the city to visit with some in laws who insisted on meeting at the Herald Square Macy's. I've been to riots that were more fun. Maybe I'm just an old grump, but I hate going out shopping at this time of the year because it's so crazy, whether you're in New York City, a small town in Texas, or Utah County.
