ldsfaqs' angry response to my questions is telling.

Isn't it crazy though, that the maybe 5 million Mormons who go to Church (being generous, there) constitute less than 0.1 percent of the world's population? Them's some chosen folks, for sure (wait, that includes me :).

Factually identifying your actions and words is not "angry".

When I'm angry, I show it happily. I have no tolerance for bully's, people who have the need to pick on those they view as weaker, and no tolerance for those who lie about others especially my faith.

Keep going, and you will know my actual wrath.

ldsfaqs, when I first saw your username I thought you were an immature critic because I thought it was ldsfags.

Although, to be fair, it's likely close to accurate. The Church has always known that 30-40% of the Church is inactive or have left the Church.
It's always been that way.... Nothing new here. Move on.

Activity rate world wide is likely about 30% or so. In US and Canada more like 40% to maybe 50%. The church has about 1 million members that they cannot locate and are thus in the lost member file. Yet the church continues to say that the membership is 14 million strong. Why? At least don't report the lost files. These people clearly are not concerned about being identified as Mormons. Personally I think if someone has not attended for five years their names should be take off the roles automatically. A letter could be sent out to the member stating such and if they do not respond then take their names off. If they later want to come back simply reinstate their membership.

Jason, that sort of undercuts the whole concept of needing the 'saving ordinances' if they can just be 'reinstated' when someone whose name has been removed again begins attending. That says a lot.

ldsfaqs wrote:Most who are inactive haven't actually left the Church either intellectually or literally.

So, like what, they just forgot to go to church for a few years or something?
Choice had nothing to do with the matter. The layman doesn't deal with "nuances".
Further, actual activity rate is not "public knowledge".

Ok, so you're not talking about real nuances here? You're not talking about real public knowledge? Seriously, what's with the scare quotes? Your overuse of quotation marks in what you write is downright bizarre.

Thus, who-ever made the stat was simply going by the numbers that any religion or group goes by publicly.

What you ignore in order to justify your hate of the Church is that EVERY GROUP on the PLANET publicizes their official membership numbers when-ever they say or do anything. It's not about lying, it's simply their numbers.

Sorry, you're wrong. Jehovah's Witnesses don't report everyone who isn't actually known to be dead who ever was a JW until the age of 110. JWs list the number of people who were actually documented to have been active proselyters during the last year. Read this. I'll quote a bit here:
The official published membership statistics, such as those mentioned above, include only those who submit reports for their personal ministry; official statistics do not include inactive and disfellowshipped individuals or others who might attend their meetings. As a result, only about half of those who self-identified as Jehovah's Witnesses in independent demographic studies are considered active by the faith itself.

Consider the LDS Church's fetish with bigger and better membership numbers, and then realize that Jehovah's Witnesses, on purpose use a standard for determining membership statistics that is so restrictive that literally half the people who are willing to self-identify as JWs to researchers aren't even claimed as members by the JW organization? Meanwhile the LDS are claiming as members people who are probably dead, or haven't even darkened the doorway to a Mormon church in decades, and barely even remember the Mormon Church exists anymore.
There is nothing sinister going on with the Church, move on and get a life. Don't want to believe, fine, otherwise, move on. We are not sinister evil monsters trying to destroy and deceive the world. So, get a life will you?

I agree, you are not a sinister evil monster trying to destroy and deceive the world. You are simply a true believer in an untrue church trying to spread things which you believe to be true, but which really are not. There's no mens rea here, yet the things you proclaim to the world are false.

The church leadership is like those missionaries we all knew who grossly inflated their numbers so to get approval and leadership positions in the mission. The 15 are those kind of douchebags, all growed up.
