Well this one is still in the Terrestrial.

Not sure why I'm even bothering with any of this, but you do have a valid point. Once upon a time, even one or two posts like this would be expunged from the thread and be immediately sent to the Telestial.

Sorry...I have been off the board most of the day. I had a heavy day at work. I just moved this post to Telestial:

I just checked the Moderator logs and there are no more open reports. If there are any other posts that need to be moved, please report them. You are also welcome to PM me.

I think that was Jersey's point, about needing more mods, but you already know that.

I wouldn't object to that. It is Shades' call.

ETA--I will be off work starting next Wednesday. My board time will be very sporadic until after the holidays.

Know and be sure that moderation is a thankless job and especially this time of year when so many people are working full time jobs and trying to take care of holiday preparation. I asked for a few temp mods to help take up the slack for the mods that we already have and backed the request with an offer.

My request and subsequent offer was made for the exact reasons that I stated.

Earlier, I looked at stem's profile. He posted here starting this past January, that's almost a year. I don't claim to have read many of his posts, but I don't see where people have complained because he attacked them much less viciously or abused them in any way.

If he did, my mistake.

It's not easy for a TBM or other type of believer to post on this board. It takes an enormous amount of courage and something of a sense of humor to maintain a presence here. Not everyone has the gut for it.

Contrast that with how long it took for a few critics here to bristle in the face of criticism. Hmmm...what was that, in terms of minutes from the time the OP went up? ;-)

And they claim not to "trust" me, when the truth is that they don't trust me to turn a blind eye when I see violations they've made here. Just look at how quickly they swooped in when I offered up criticism. There is nothing that a moderator can do on this board, with the exception of editing from within, that cannot be undone. One of the reasons, by the way, that I disagree with editing from within.

As I stated previously, I don't care who moderates this board. I simply identified an issue and proposed a solution.

It's okay with me if Shades doesn't agree. It's okay with me if the critics take the field without challenge and claim victory of some kind.

I, as a long time poster, am simply not interested in seeing people abused day after day under the guise of "criticism" or "free speech", when, in fact, these types of attacks aren't in keeping with the board rules to start with.

Unfortunately, I can't. Our policy is that after a report has been taken care of, the report, itself is deleted.

I attempted to move that post a little while ago, but hit a technical snag.

If Jersey is asserting that more mods are needed to deal with the moderator queue in a prompt manner, this is not accurate. Items get dealt with quite rapidly.

Dear Mr. Shades,

I hope Mormon Discussion remains a place for FREEDOM OF SPEECH, and not a place where every post Jersey Girl doesn't agree with is banned. Thank you.

Jersey Girl wrote:Shades,

After reviewing some of the active threads today, I've reached the conclusion that this place is currently going to hell in a hand basket. Two posters have walked off the stage, one appears to be permanent and the other temporary.

I don't blame them.

Please keep in mind that I'm from Jersey and there is not a whole lot that I find offensive, however, in reading through threads earlier, I have to admit that some of what I saw left even me in disgust.

I know that many or most of us are busy running around preparing for the upcoming holiday and that includes moderators.

Would you consider putting a few temp mods on here?

Yes, I'm volunteering. I don't like seeing people feeling so repulsed that they start leaving.
