Re: How to make garments more desirable
SP, I think that the fact that in those early decades garments were patterned after MEN'S long underwear, that it was a tad unusual for women to be wearing them.
The fact that there was no way for a woman to deal with menstration or breastfeeding properly while wearing them is proof of this.
I imagine that since women had control over their garments at that time that they were either customizing them or perhaps not wearing them during certain times, that or just suffering through a great deal of inconvenience. I'm sure we'd find a bit of all of that.

I think the greatest tragedy of the garment is the choice of color. Long, tight clothing should be colorful. my wife and I saw these last night.

There really are things the church could do to garments to make them look alluring, playful, beautiful, colorful, erotic, etc. They can do it and they should. It's time to bring the true blessings of Celestial Marriage back into the Mormon marriage!

Yay! A picture!
You guys are missing the point of garments.
The point is not to be alluring and sexy. The point is for them to serve as a "shield and protection." They are to be a reminder of covenants and holiness and purity. They are a marker of who is "all in" and who is not.
How can they protect you and remind you of your total submission to the church if they are sexy? Answer me that!

Shield from what? Protection from what? Protection from boredom? The point is not to be alluring and sexy. The point is for them to serve as a "shield and protection."
Maybe the prophet TSM has not received the memo telling us what "holiness" and "purity" really means. They are to be a reminder of covenants and holiness and purity.
You have a good point about what the garment has become. But maybe the woman who first started trying to help with the design felt the symbol of the garment should be something that makes you feel special inside. The problem is, everyone has different ways of feeling special. They are a marker of who is "all in" and who is not.

It depends on your preferences. Are you into total submission or dominance?

I'd say wearing the garment shows a person to be in total (or near total) submission to the church.
I think that garments are a protection against sexual advances.
HAHAHAHA!

I really would love to take on the task of re-designing the temple garments. Maybe MDB should have host a design contest. Would that be allowed in the Terrestrial forum, Doctor Shades?

Most likely no. I don't see garments as no such thing. When a single couple are planning a little Mormon action, they do not have to wear their garments that day.
And if one is married, it makes no difference.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

What on earth are you talking about? I don't even want to know.
A single couple...Mormon "action"...WTH
And, yeah, it does make a difference. A big difference.
