Okay, now I know how to take an image and make it into an avatar. Does anybody know any places where there are a lot of images I could use as an avatar? I don't really have anything in mind; I just want to go somewhere where there are a lot of images, look around, and see if anything stands out.[/quote]

Re: Avatars
Thanks, Quasimodo! I found a picture that I like, one among a group of 24 avatars, but when I saved it to my desktop the whole 4 by 6 array got saved. How do I get an avatar that is just the one image?
Previously someone said to use whatever image-editing software I have to get an image that's just the right size. What are some good tools that would help me do that? If you can tell me what some of them are, then I'll look on my laptop and see if I have them.

I made some progress, using the <Paint> utility on my Windows 7 machine. Now I have the image I want to use as my avatar up in the upper left corner of the <Paint> window by itself, and everything else is blank. But when I click on the ".png" file created, it's still pretty huge, with my avatar taking up just a very small corner. Does anyone know how to reduce the size of a ".png" file?

Thanks for all your help, Quasi! As you can see, I have an avatar (that I like) now.
