I think that it is a main focus for this board. How many masturbation threads have we had in the last two years? Many. The people here love to masturbate, regardless if they are married or not. They also want their children to have fun too. But it has become an obsession here. No question about it.

I'll take this question as referring to the fact that there are from time to time threads on this board that discuss the reported experience of former members of the CoJCoLDS (of both genders) who say that they were sometimes or even often asked about masturbation by their bishops, from early adolescence onwards.

Why do they raise this point on this board? I suggest

1. Because after leaving the CoJCoLDS they realize how completely bizarre all this seems to those who do not know their former religion from the inside. Personally, I was particularly astonished to hear that if my daughter had been brought up LDS, she might in her early teens have been in a room alone with an adult male authority figure who asked her what she did with herself in her privacy. Yuk.

2. Because they know it will annoy TBMs, who will often try to deny that it ever happened, deny that the complainant was ever LDS, and so on, only to be contradicted by LDS on the board in good standing who themselves think that these interrogations are out of order.

This has, so far as I can see, nothing to do with their political affiliations.

He is complaining that it gets talked about on this board from time to time.

My post above suggests why it is quite reasonable for that to be the case, given the personal histories of several posters who are former members of the CoJCoLDS.

On a serious note, the freedom to masturbate and talk about that freedom is both actual and symbolic. Any organization that attempts to control such a private act is an organization that is attempting to control in general. Taking back that freedom is empowerment.
