So, is it still as bad as it was when I looked over there a few days ago? I can't be bothered to go over there again and look. Bad for the soul.

Something weird is going on with the "KEP Sequence of Characters" thread as far as hits go. I watched it on and off for about an hour earlier today when it was around 11,000 hits and it was going up at an unusually fast rate. Even though there were only a total of 30-35 people in the forum it was climbing at a rate of about 100s hit in five minutes.
I would suspect that someone or someones are using a macro to refresh it just to drive up the hits.

I suspect the same.

I am pleasantly astounded that the moderators over there have let these threads go on the way they have, when it appears (to our side at least, I can't imagine what it looks like to a TBM) that Kevin and George have the facts on their side, and that Wade is just picking at nits and attempting, in vain, to say something relevant to make it look like the "good guys" are winning.
I must say this, because it deserves to be said: the moderators of the MD&D board are to be commended for letting a thread so apparently hostile to their faith go on for as long, and with as much detail, as they have. IMHO they are doing a fair and even-handed job of controlling such an obviously tinder-box like thread, between individuals not known (other than George) for controlling their name-calling and mind-reading diatribes.
What worries me is that if the bad guys (us) go around high fiving each other because of this thread, they may rethink letting this topic go on as they thusfar have.
The opening post of this new thread though (KEP sequence of characters) is just stunning. The graphic aids certainly are worth their thousands of words in terms of illustrating the characters coming from the paprus. And Will comes back and writes, in bold, that the "explained" characters from the AE/GAEL do not bear any obvious relationship to the papyrus. Amazing, and it's astounding in the irrelevance of the qualifier "explained". That little nitpick just doesn't help.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

The moderation has been very commendable. They even unbanned Kevin from the latest thread which was a pleasant surprise. I just got a copy of Marquardt's "The Joseph Smith Egyptian Papers" which makes following the discussions a whole lot easier. I wish color copies were available, it would make thing a lot easier.

Perhaps the moderation team is aware of the audience that Kevin and George have drawn to this subject and to their board. Since this audience is contacting Kevin it shouldn't be a stretch to think that they might contact the moderators, too.
This change in moderation is very nice to see.

I don't believe this is a change in moderation. I think what the mods value is the fact that Kevin knows this subject very well, so they value his knowledge, even if it's oppositional. What it does show is that they are interested in the truth, and in the concept of "opposition in all things". It is quite remarkable that they let him back on the board (after defending Juliann), when before, any post he did was immediately deleted, once they discovered his identity.
On the whole, however, it's still not a board I'd rush to sign up for again. Not after the way I was treated there.
