You seriously think that is the sum total of the church's teachings about sexuality? Talk about intellectually unserious.
No, of course I don't, but my days of casting pearls before swine are long behind me.
Nothing is going to startle us more when we pass through the veil to the other side than to realize how well we know our Father [in Heaven] and how familiar his face is to us
- President Ezra Taft Benson
I am so old that I can remember when most of the people promoting race hate were white.
For John Larsen and his comments about studies, archaeology and so forth yet undone as to "proving" Mormonism. The teachings of Mormonism dwell largely in the realm of the "supernatural"; that which is above nature. Science, logic and reason deal only with the natural world. Our studies and archaeology will prove little or nothing in the supernatural realms, at least for now. They are the wrong tools. It's like trying to fix an automatic transmission with a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. (Nibley writes eloquently and at length on the false notion of proving or disproving our religion on archaeology; scientific findings are highly subject to interpretation in any event, and will forever remain incomplete.)
The only "proof", by heavenly design I believe, for our church and its teachings come in a one-on-one encounter with the Spirit of God, and it remains proof for that individual alone, though they most certainly should bear testimony of it. This is not to disparage intellectual study; in fact, in the first few revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants, we are told to find truth with "heart and mind". God encourages us to love Him with all our . . . mind. (Plus other elements.) Nonetheless, a "mind" conversion to this gospel without a "heart" conversion will soon prove useless against the intellectual onslaughts of Lucifer, who by all counts, is smarter than we'll ever be in this life.

Go ahead and call me a swine. I don't mind. But you, sir, have never had any pearls to cast.
You, sir, have cast away sacred things for the pottage in which you have been wallowing, in self serving grandeur, for a number of years now on this board. My "pearls" shall remain with me for the ears and eyes of those for whom it can be of some use and efficacy. Beyond that, I've seen profound, sacred things spat upon, vomited upon, impugned and mocked in this forum by the glorified high school clique that dominates this place for a long enough time to be well aware of under what circumstances to to go deeply into the doctrinal basis for a church standard or teaching, and with whom.

No, it isn't. I'm not at all sure you understand LDS doctrine here.
Define "nature."

I can't agree here. Science deals with the natural world. Logical reasoning deals with the analysis of argument upon any subject grounded in the laws of language.

Wow Droopy, simply wow. This is a new low, even for you.
