The community of Christ are stuck at 200,000. They aren't going anywhere. But you can join, if you wish.

Yes.

I thought Prophet trumped Apostle in the Mormon hierarchy?

No. Modern revelation Trump's past revelation. Re-read AoF 9.

Lizard Jew wrote:i am pretty sure this statement is false. the prophet is a prophet and that means he speaks to the lord with the counselors as witnesses. if you think the prophet is just some guy that has no greater insight into the mind of god or access, what is the point of the prophet?

what?

Same point as having a Pope.

The Initiatory reference is easy. Next time you go to the temple, volunteer for an initiatory. Pay close attention to what is being done, and what is being promised...and then realize that women are ordaining women with the exact same promises.

The references regarding early women of the Church administering to the sick, and Joseph Smith's establishment of the Relief Society are, I believe, available in "The History of Joseph Smith"' which is a Church approved source. Give me some time to find the exact reference.

Yes, and by late May 1844, JSJr was cursing the Relief Society (along with the Law brothers) for the publicity of his promiscuity (oops, his 'polygamous marriages') having leaked, despite his repeated lies (oops, 'sacred protestations' denying he was practicing the God-commanded polygamy). JSJr was no friend to women in the Church.

Yes.

So had the Prophet Brigham Young led the Church astray with his teaching about blacks being less valiant in the pre-existence?

I have never given Joseph Smith a pass. He screwed up royally, too. Ha..."screwed up"...pun not intended, but it works. LOL

Yes. In my opinion, it is one of the main reasons that the JoD remains a work that is not considered official LDS canon.

it is an odd thought to think that god would have let the blacks get the priestood taken from them and never tell the prophet he was wrong.

i find that a little hard to believe.

this is basically saying that the prophet is'New Testament the prophet!

I think it may be saying that the prophet is not the kind of prophet many Mormons presume him to be.

It boils down to a decision as to whether the prophet is racist or God.

Which would you prefer?

You have to remember a couple of things. Our time is not the Lord's time. In the Lord's time, the blacks not having the priesthood was not a very long time frame....probably about 15-20 minutes to how we relate time.

So why does elohim/jehovah when addressing man speak in God-time terms rather than man-time terms?

Keep in mind what the most perfect book on earth, the Book of Mormon, says:

2 Nephi 31:3 wrote:For my soul delighteth in plainness; for after this manner doth the Lord God work among the children of men. For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding; for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding.

So this God-time speak is an instance of one of those goofy mistakes of elohim/jehovah not taking to heart and implementing that old rule of public speaking and writing: know your audience and address them?
