I challenged him earlier on a different thread but some quasi LDS members defended him because they still think that he is prolds. But his agenda is so clear....He has been heading this way ever since he was released as sunday school teacher after a few years of teaching it.

However if he took heart medication and forgot, that would certainly cause a problem. When people are in such situations when they see someone like in this story, they react in various of ways usually through shock. The people involved thought that they did the right thing and brother involved did not say call an ambulance. We never know how we react when confronted by an emergency.

You'll forgive me if I would rather take the word of the competent, trained, doctor's and nurses who advised the family afterwards, over your word?

The point is to learn from the story and not condemn people for their reaction. And if the ldstoronto's wife called the police, what can the police do against the men? Arrest them for not reacting how they should?

Learn from the story? Are you seriously kidding me? This wasn't some cute parable about a schoolmaster whipping kids for stealing each others lunches, THIS WAS A GUY WHO DIED DURING SUNDAY SCHOOL!

What was my wife thinking? She was thinking negligence. Denial of necessary life-saving care. Those are crimes in Canada. And she is a medical professional who has a legal and ethical obligation. And I begged her not to report it, to leave it up to the family.

The sad thing is, Br. M's wife was in the hospital at the time, in some form of vegetative state, as a result of a stroke. She passed away within a year of Br. M's passing. His daughter was in her young 20's at the time and he had a son who lived far away - I can't recall how old he was or where he lived. I know the daughter had to deal with the closing affairs of Br. M's life, and I know that my wife told her what had happened with respect to the timing of everything.

Nothing ever came of it.

The two men are still members of the ward. I'd be guessing if I told you they felt remorse or if I told you they didn't; I never spoke to either of them concerning this event or their part in it.

I am genuinely sorry to have evoked this response from you, Ray. I consider you a friend and I hope you still consider me such.

I know I stumble more than I would like, but I am just trying to make my way as best I can along this strange and unexpected journey of faith.

I hope everybody here knows that I have experienced some very strange things in my life; things that brought me into the LDS Church 34-years ago, and things that manage to keep me here in spite of the many shocks and jolts I have had to my testimony.

I come here to work through some of my misgivings and explore anomalies I see in the Church. But I certainly did not mean to offend you. I feel, like Hamlet, that I have shot mine arrow o'er the house, and hurt my brother.

So, when I hear of people placing too much faith in the power of priesthood blessings, I occasionally recount this story. It still makes me angry to this date - if Br. M. had received medical care immediately, he could have lived - the heart attack was brought on by his neglect of medications that morning and that could have been reversed in the 15 minutes that these nitwits spent in the classroom.

Ray, I think you're being uncharitable to consig. I think he's working through things sincerely rather than playing to some atheist peanut gallery here. I also think you're letting a few "crude" atheists colour your perception of this board. It's true that there are more unbelievers than believers here, but I think there is more variance despite there being johnny-one-notes in both camps. I rarely mix it up in atheism threads, but I am one just the same.
