(Bold emphasis mine) See? You just admitted that there are times when you have chosen to keep quiet.
I am not a talking head in class. If so, I would completely alienate most people in class. My point was simple. If someone makes a comment in class that a person disagrees with they can open their mouths to give a different perspective especially if it troubles them. And all would benefit from this.
However if all one does is rolls ones eyes and sits there quietly and then comes to the board to moan about the person's comment on this board, I think that they are doing a disservice to the class and to the person who made the comment. Juse Me could have given a different perspective and helped the class to see the issue differently. And that was my point. I see nothing wrong with my point.
Your point about speaking out in class, and thus forwarding the discussion is well-taken. I have nothing against this point at all. As a matter of fact, I agree with it.
What I disagree with, and the reason that so many on this thread have appeared to focus on you, is that you have added a judgmental element to your point. You have dismissed the fact that Just Me knows her congregation better than you, me, or anyone else here, and made a judgment call to, in that particular instance, keep quiet. You dismissed Just Me's ability to make that judgment call. You also seem to think that simply because someone comes here and discusses points of the Church they disagree with, that they are immediately anti-Mormon. This is simply not true. In this very thread, you have accused Consig of having an anti-Mormon attitude, and told him that he needs to portray the Church in a more positive light with his daughter. If you actually take the time to read Consig's posts, you will note that Consig, does, in fact, present the Church in a positive light to his family. Not only that, Consig's overall attitude toward the Church is very positive. Simply because we, as members, sometimes disagree with points of doctrine or policy, this does not mean that we hate the Church or disparage it. We are using this board to bounce off ideas, and, perish the thought, actually attempting to come up with improvements!
