Questions of ethics for the seer

Post by _zeezrom »

I've been struggling with my 3rd and 4th symbol on the Phaistos Disc without any leads! I'm so discouraged. I feel as if my prophetic mantle has deflated. Every now and then, I get this little feeling that I should pray for inspiration to continue the translation. But I haven't been able to follow through because it seems like such a trivial thing to pray for. I mean, look around the world for a second. Look at all the suffering and lack of basic needs. And I'm going to pray for what? For help translating some symbols on the Phaistos Disc?! Oh brother.

But I keep thinking about Joseph Smith. There were problems in his day as well. God took the time to help him translate words, so why not help me too? It must be important enough despite the common sense that keeps trying to get in the way.

Obviously, if God takes the time to help me on this project, it means the words are important for everyone else. It's pretty difficult being a seer. So many ethical questions.

Stop bothering god and start using google.

Did you change your mode of prayer like I suggested?

Please remind me of your suggestion. Oh, you mean the Conan thing? Um, She does not react well to that kind of prayer.

What methods of divination have you tried? Try them all until you find the one that works for you.

Extispicium is too messy. I recommend bibliomancy. I've used sortes Virgilianae on occasion, but only selectively. Suffice it to say I'm not impressed with pious Aeneas, but I'll trust any omens that come via the words or actions of Dido. I suggest you try Jane Eyre as a scrying device until I can finish my creating my Tarot deck.

God has never been a fan of document snobs. If you aren't even going to look at the Eddas, go get some James Harriot.

If you are struggling a bit from writers block perhaps you shoul plagiarise large tracts from another book that deals with the same subject matter?

I would be lying to you if I told you I never considered using some old writings of my own as source material.
