LDS.org references the Hill we "KNOW" about..... Nothing else, nothing more.

And spare me the "who knows Mormonism more".....
NONE of you can compete with what I've learned of Mormonism as both a convert and someone's who's left the Church. Further, I've attended some 30 different Wards of the Church in multiple areas, held many different callings, attended Seminary (though not fully), but did take every Institute of Religion class some several times, graduated from BYU-Hawaii, etc. etc.

Sorry, but you all don't even close to knowing the religion that I know.

It's nice to be reminded once in a while of our ignorance and stupidity. Thanks.

Can you please show us a reference, on LDS.org, that mentions this other hill? In fact, any reference from any official LDS publication would be fine.

Why do you think the fact that you left the LDS church adds any credibility to your argument? All it shows is that you are easily persuaded and never really understood both Mormonism AND "anti-mormonism"...

Can you please give me an example of a "lie" in this thread? You seem to be the one making things up here.

Wait...let's reexamine the LDS.org reference:

Cumorah, Hill

See also Book of Mormon; Moroni, Son of Mormon; Smith, Joseph, Jr..

A small hill located in western New York, United States of America. Here an ancient prophet named Moroni hid the gold plates containing some of the records of the Nephite and Jaredite nations. Joseph Smith was directed to this hill in 1827 by the resurrected Moroni to get these plates and translate a portion of them. This translation is the Book of Mormon.

Nephites gathered at Cumorah, Morm. 6:2–4
Cumorah was in a land of many waters, Morm. 6:4
Mormon hid the records in the Hill Cumorah, Morm. 6:6
All but twenty and four Nephites were slain at Cumorah, Morm. 6:11
We hear glad tidings from Cumorah, D&C 128:20
Joseph Smith took plates from the Hill Cumorah, Joseph Smith—H 1:42, 50–54, 59
(LDS.org - Topic 'The Hill Cumorah')

If, as you state, the reference is only referring to the hill we know about, nothing more, nothing less, then why were both of these scriptural references used to describe the Hill Cumorah without any explanation of distinguishing two different hills? It simply doesn't make any sense.

Mormon hid the records in the Hill Cumorah, Morm. 6:6
All but twenty and four Nephites were slain at Cumorah, Morm. 6:11

I can appreciate where you are coming from as far as your faith journey as well as what you have studied. However, the best students and teachers are those who acknowledge that there are still things they can learn.

I am not trying to paint you into a corner or create a "gotcha" moment with my comments above. I would honestly like to know what your opinion is as to why a reference to 2 Cumorahs has not been made clearer by the Church.

Honestly, as a member, I don't see anything wrong with the Church simply taking a stand that the NY Cumorah is, indeed the Hill Cumorah referenced in the Book of Mormon. Rather than going in circles about the possibility of 2 Cumorahs, and still coming back to the stance that "there are many things we don't know", wouldn't it be simpler to state that we just don't know why archaeological finds do not support the great battle? It is simply one of those many "mysteries of the kingdom" that we will know in the Lord's due time.

This is the most accurate (if slightly illiterate) thing you've said.

But it's clear that the religion you know isn't Mormonism.

If LDS.org is referencing the hill we KNOW, and that hill is the one in New York state AND the one in the Book of Mormon, which from LDS.org's description it can be none other...well...what other Hill Cumorah are you looking for?
