It will be in your mind. Easier to defend, no maintenance required and just fun for all.

ROTFLMAO!
In all seriousness, though, I would really love to hear BC's thoughts on all of this.
I've been through this with DCP over on the other board and shoved the same quotes in front of him. That was back in the day when I was a strong supporter of Cumorah in New York and supported President Romney as if he was speaking by the influence and power of the Holy Spirit in General Conference. But DCP didn't believe Romney and tossed me a David O McKay bone. And today, I agree with DCP -- Romney was off his rocker. Sometimes school teachers really are smarter than prophets and perhaps they will one day take over the whole church! It seems they know better.

Just like there is no king's name written in the writing of Facsimile No. 3., even though the Church officially proclaims to all the world that there is a king's name therein.
But having fuzzy warm feelings just makes it all true nonetheless! Isn't it marvelous?
Brethren and sisters, the church is true.
LOL.

The Warren Commission didn't buy the theory of the grassy knoll. Perhaps they should have looked toward Mesoamerica.

Digging into the Book of Mormon: Our Changing Understanding of Ancient America and Its Scripture

The purpose of this article and the one to follow is to sketch a few vivid examples of changes in how some Latter-day Saint scholars view the Book of Mormon in the light of new theories and discoveries about the past. These articles are not intended to be an expression of official Church teachings, but on the basis of my own research and study, I have thought this new information to be worth consideration.
So, then, the doctrine is settled, as outlined by apostles and prophets in correlated church publications. If nothing else, having it as mere opinion makes it impossible to pin the serious problems with the LGT on the church.
Wow! This is huge!
It seems, then, that all of the official Church statements point toward the Hill Cumorah being in NY, and that being the only hill.

With that torpedo the two Cumorahs and the LGT have taken (thank you Darth for pointing that out), I thought it might be worth reminding MDB readers what the 1st (and only) Watson Letter on topic says, in its entirety, since it is the last statement from a ranking Mormon ecclesiastical on the topic:
Watson, 10/16/1990 wrote:I have been asked to forward to you for acknowledgement and handling the enclosed copy of a letter to President Gordon B. Hinckley from Ronnie Sparks of your ward. Brother Sparks inquired about the location of the Hill Cumorah mentioned in the Book of Mormon, where the last battle between the Nephites and Lamanites took place.
The Church has long maintained, as attested to by references in the writings of General Authorities, that the Hill Cumorah in western New York state is the same as referenced in the Book of Mormon.
The Brethren appreciate your assistance in responding to this inquiry, and asked that you convey to Brother Sparks their commendation for his gospel study.

That is correct. The only non-New York assertions have been qualified as personal opinion.

The church is moving away from making any more definitive statements about this and many other issues. It's the best strategy to protect as long as they can beliefs that are incorrect.
