(The Identical Ancestors Point doesn't refer to a single set of parents for all mankind.)
I have not suggested such.
Then why bring it up?
And what about the rest of the post?
The chromosomal Adam was about 60,000 years ago, not 5,000 to 15,000 as you suggest. (The Identical Ancestors Point doesn't refer to a single set of parents for all mankind.)
The combination of evolution and a local Garden presumes no meaningful creation story. You believe there was no original sin. You’re not sure we’re descended from Adam and Eve. Really, if that’s the case, what's the purpose of the Story of Creation?
The Curse of Cain is all I can think of. And the 1978 revelation made that a moot point.

Neither does the LDS Church (in the trinitarian sense).

To show how God began the process of agency whereby are are tested, improved, and judged. It does not matter if we are all directly descended from AE or if God uplifted mankind beginning with AE, or if AE were the first to be literal spirit children of God and after the fall, everyone else born after was that way too. None of that changes the current doctrine on the creation.

These ideas are very different from the current doctrine on the creation.

Are you saying it isn't doctrine that all human beings are descended from Adam and Eve?
Because Joseph Smith taught that Adam was the pre-eminent dispensation head, and that he would return and preside over a grand meeting at Adam-Ondi-Ahman at some point incident to the Second Coming. In order to do that, he had first to exist.
I'm just wondering if the first words out of Adam's mouth when he shows up in Jackson County Missouri will be something like "I really hate what you've done with the place!"
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I dunno. It looks like BC and others are moving more and more to the 'it's all an allegory' phase. Gee, if we're all really just Adam and Eve's adopted brats....

Apparently, when Joseph F. Smith had his vision of the spirit world he saw an allegory:
38 Among the great and mighty ones who were assembled in this vast congregation of the righteous were Father Adam, the Ancient of Days and father of all,
39 And our glorious Mother Eve, with many of her faithful daughters who had lived through the ages and worshiped the true and living God.
Interesting, by the way, that JFS has Adam as the father of all, not the father of some.
