Jersey Girl,
I can only think of a selfish reason: I like reading her posts. Yeah, not a great reason.

I think most of us like reading Jack's posts. So far as I know, she isn't a masochist. None of us are.

All right. I'll tap out. My apologies for being the Atheist William Schryver. I take issues with her ideological stance and her online activities, but I gotcha. I've been a poop. Take care, MDB.

I would like to point out that Mr. Will Schryver never did what Cam just did in the previous post.

I appreciate Cam's apology.

Re: Male Mormons, Ex-Mormons, and Non-Mormons.
The only "history" that I have with CamNC4Me (a.k.a. "antishock8") is the history that he himself initiated. He began aggressively targeting my posts and attacking me for no reason that I could see.
Examples:
The OP of this thread was just the latest example of one of Cam's hateful and random attacks on me for being Protestant.
Cam blames his behavior on some incoherent combination of the fact that I am Protestant and married to a Mormon and I "bash" Mormons. But . . .
I'll tell you what really happened here: Cam is a bully, and his favorite targets are believing Mormons. And women. And Protestants. Pretty much in that order. Most of the believing Mormons have abandoned our forum, and Cam has already had enough rounds with Jersey Girl, beastie, and liz3564. So Cam moved on to me: a Protestant woman married to a believing Mormon. The chance to pick on all three of the groups he looks down on, all at once.
It takes thick skin to post on this message board. In fact, it takes pretty damn thick skin to get involved in religious debate anywhere on the Internet, especially as a woman. I had the owner of a sizable atheist hub dropping sexually explicit comments in my Web site guest book when I was 16-17 (Chris Hansen wasn't in business back then). I had the leaders of some creepy, cultish Christian group in Europe sending me e-mails denouncing me for wearing "men's clothing" (i. e. jeans) and using a "man's name" for a posting handle (i. e. "Junia") and telling me that they practice "domestic discipline" on their wives and I deserve to be beaten. I've had people try to take my head from pictures of me and photoshop it onto a naked woman's body. I've been called everything from "bitch" to "whore" to "c***." I've had my marriage to a Mormon compared to Delilah tempting Samson.
And you know what? Fine. Say whatever the hell you want about me. I've seen enough terrible things in this world to think that being mocked and despised and cussed at and even threatened over the Internet really isn't all that big of a deal.
But I have always, always been of the belief that going after the family members of participants---family members who aren't in any way involved and have nothing to do with this forum---is nothing short of reprehensible and disgusting. When I did my "misogyny" thread last year, I refused to include any quotes from William about his wife or daughters, even though other people thought they were relevant, because I did not want to involve his family. When Polygamy Porter posted pictures of Seattle Ghost Writer's family, I was one of the people who spoke out against it and got him to change it within minutes of posting it. When Eric attacked the movie review column that Dan Peterson's son did for Deseret News, I denounced it. I have been very consistent about this.
This is not a moderator issue. MDB is a free speech forum. If you're an anonymous person who wants to post vicious attacks on the families of non-anonymous participants, just so long as you do it in the Telestial forum, you can. The moderators have always been prompt about splitting Cam's attack posts into Telestial. They've done what they can.
I've always respected the free speech vision of MDB. But after four months of aggressive heckling that has pinnacled into savage attacks on my family, I'm no longer so sure that it works for me.
Final thing: the last time Cam apologized to a woman on our forums for his behavior towards her (calling Jersey Girl "piss flaps"), he later retracted his apology when he got angry at her again and reiterated his initial remarks. He only apologized to her so that he could take shots at William Schryver without anyone calling him on his hypocrisy. Once the Schryver thread had died down, he reverted back to his true colors. This man doesn't change and he doesn't repent; he just panders and manipulates as the present need requires. If I stuck around, he'd be back to calling my husband a "pussy" within a month.
And if he fools you twice, shame on you.

- I've been Protestant and married to a Mormon since long before I registered here, and my attitude towards the LDS church hasn't changed much since I got here. Why did the attacks just start up in October 2011?
- There's probably at least half a dozen posters here who criticize the LDS church in spite of being married to very conservative, believing, faithful Mormons. Why hasn't Cam targeted them? (Hint: They're men.)
- In particular, Aristotle Smith is a Protestant married to a Mormon, and he criticizes the LDS church at least as much as I do. Why isn't Cam attacking Aristotle's wife and calling her names? Why isn't he launching random attacks at Aristotle for being Protestant? (Hint: Aristotle's a man.)
- Cam has said so much hateful and bigoted stuff about Mormons and Mormonism, it isn't even hard to find. Just search Cam's posting history for "assholes" and he's probably talking about Mormons. Who is he to judge anyone else for what they say on the subject? On top of that, when I ask him to actually cite some of the things I say about Mormons that upset him so much, he gets scarce.

I should have stepped up to Cam and said something more, MsJack. I didn't. I apologize to you for that.

We are all free to exit from a place where we are unwelcome, with less or more cost. I would hate to see this place dwindle into nothingness.

Re: Male Mormons, Ex-Mormons, and Non-Mormons.
Briefly I'm going to comment on what I see is the main problem for Ms. Jack. When someone posts in real life information on here (comments about what transpired in discussions off the board, or information about a person) that information if it's not been on this board and the poster involved doesn't want it on this board..gets deleted. I won't get into the justification for it.
Ms. Jack's real name to my understanding is well known to many people on this board. When someone on here says anything about her family, or about her marriage it can get back to her family and friends. And that can be problematic for her in ways we may not foresee. So attacks on her family, friends should also get deleted by moderation...because in essence they can affect her real life relationships. So it's not good enough remedy, to simply move attacks on her family, friends, her marriage to telestial. People known on here by their real names require a bit more protection than people anonymous...in my opinion.
