That would be easy to do. by the way Chap if I gave the impression Cam had posted in real life information then you misunderstood. He didn't.

Oh please, spare me. I wasn't even thinking about anatomical things when using the 'p' word, yet you were. Interesting to say the least.

A PRICK is someone who pricks someone like with a pin or some sharp object or, a mean statement.

Umm, it was the reference to feminine anatomy that disturbed delicate little old me.

I have to say that I agree.

If someone says 'Chap is a pretentious ignoramus with the exaggerated sensibilities of a nervous jellyfish', what do I care? Personal attacks don't worry me much - though of course they mostly belong in Telestial.

But if someone said that about my great-aunt ... I don't like to think what might happen. You just don't want to got there.

Oh, oh, I missed that connection, as usual. Par for the course.

Do excuse me.

You'll all be happy to hear that I've slipped the surly bonds of expectations. I no longer have any!

Yay!

Yes, attacks on one's family members should, I believe, count as "personal attacks," since family is pretty personal. I have no problem with such things being deleted entirely.

So, consider the precedent set. No more attacks on someone's family members, EVER.

EDITED TO ADD:

I have taken marg's comment to heart. I went to the Telestial Forum to edit out all negative references to MsJack's husband, but DoctorCamNC4Me has already done so of his own accord. So I'd say that all the evidence points to his apology being sincere.

Thank you, Doctor Cam.

I think that we can all agree that this is something that Will Schryver never did, and it deserves good recognition:

Thanks, Cam!

I am so glad that we have officially adopted this new stance about attacking family members, and I hope that Ms. Jack and Cam both stay with us, and we can put all of this behind us. :-)

I'm grateful that the moderators have instituted this new policy. I did a lot of thinking over the weekend and had definitely decided that I could not post somewhere where open season on my family was permitted. I'm not 100% sure that I'm sticking around (though the arrival of hans castorp is sure tempting me . . . ). We'll see.

This is the first and last time that I am going to say anything about how my husband feels about my participation on this forum: my husband and I each have critical feelings towards the other person's religion. We each recognize that the other person's feelings are genuine, and we don't believe bottling those feelings up and pretending they don't exist is a healthy way of dealing with them. We're secure enough in our love for one another to let the other person be who they really are, and we are very much in love. And that is that. Don't believe me? I don't care. Go pound sand. And while you're at it, stop addressing who I am as a person (woman, evangelical, married to a Mormon) and start addressing my arguments. If you agree with my arguments, it shouldn't matter who they're coming from. If you don't agree with my arguments, you don't have to reference the fact that I'm an evangelical woman married to a Mormon to say so.

As for Cam, a lot of you seem to like him and want him around. A lot of you seem to consider him a friend. So let me please urge you to do what William Schryver's so-called "friends" never did for him: when he crosses the line, get in his face and tell him in no uncertain terms that he needs to STOP. He is not like Joey and Joseph and Daheshist; when enough people express disapproval, he will back off. Even I can say that he has at least that much going for him.

Don't wait for the friends of the people he's picking on to start a thread like this and call you onto the carpet. Real friends don't let friends make sexist, hateful remarks unchecked.
