The Washington temple is actually in Bethesda, Maryland. The Boston temple is in Belmont. I'm sure there are more examples of LDS temples named after the major city in whose `burbs the temple is actually located.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

The Chicago temple is actually in Glenview, it's just a few miles down the road from where my mom used to work.

Just so he found a local ward to attend, while there on Sunday ... to totally round out the experience ... then I'd say it was a huge success!

Hey Chap, I read that LDS had to get permission from the Paris mayor for this temple. If it isn't in his jurisdiciton, why get his permission?
Nope. Per your source:
Construction Status
As of November 2011, the mayor of Le Chesnay has granted his approval for the building permit of the Paris France Temple on the site formerly occupied by Électricité de France on Boulevard Saint-Antoine, which is being purchased by the Church from the Foncière des Régions. The existing buildings will be razed to make way for the temple, accommodation center, housing, and gardens (open to the public). No groundbreaking date has been announced.
The mayor of the small town of Le Chesnay, Philippe Brillault, is not the mayor of Paris. The mayor of Paris is Bertrand Delanoë, a gay man who is admired by many for refusing to increase his personal security protection after an assassination attempt.

Le Chesnay is served by no station of the Paris Métro, RER, or suburban rail network.
It would seem that the Church's claim to be supporting environmental sustainability with its construction efforts is disingenuous. To get to the Paris temple you will have to drive (or walk).

He was so excited about visiting the Mormon temple while in Paris, he had to post about it. There was no other word about his trip at all. Just the temple. I was shocked and replied, "You were in Paris?! Please tell me you went to the Louvre."
He replied with, "Yeah, I went there and it's overrated."
Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!
Hey Z what temple did he visit, since the Paris temple isn't built yet?

Preeeecisely! There is nothing there for him to visit. though a cursory glance at the website might have given him the impression that there was.
So we know:
1. While in Paris he did not visit the Louvre (because he told us that).
2. While in Paris he did not visit the temple (because it does not exist)
3. On his return he told a lie about where he had been in Paris and what he did there (because he said he had visited a place that did not exist).
So what did he do in Paris that he was so anxious to hide behind a veil of supposed piety? Hmm ...

Where is the steeple? The Brethren are on record with many municipalities that the steeple is essential to its design and worship and sought variances to local building codes in cities like San Diego,Boston and Phoenix..
I hope other cities take note of this inconsistency when the church feels like imposing itself on future communities.

God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

Not to Parisians it ain't.
Paris is the area inside the boulevard périphérique, the circular freeway that runs round the city along the line where Paris's outermost fortification wall stood until the 1920s. Inside that are the twenty arrondissements into which the city is divided, some classy, some not so. Beyond the boulevard are the suburbs, that don't have Paris postal codes and are not administered by the mayor of Paris. People who live there typically say they live in Montreuil, Vincennes, and so on, not Paris.
If you want to be nice to the house of handshakes in the region of the French capital, you could say it is the Versailles temple, but even that would be an exaggeration. Le Chesnay is next to Versailles, though.
To make the situation clearer: suppose Americans heard that the CoJCoLDS had erected a building in New Jersey, and called it the 'New York temple'? Well, I suppose it's no worse than Disney's decision to call their business 'Disneyland Paris', even if it is 20 miles away ...
Wasn't Giant Stadium where the New York Giants played in the Meadowlands--in New Jersey?

And the Hill Cumorah is actually in upstate New York...er, in Mesoamerica somehere...er, it seems distinctly Mormon to be all screwed geographically.
