I remember being encouraged by my leaders to look at my non-TBM, nonmember friends this way.We hear many wonderful things from young women about their work in Personal Progress and how it is blessing their lives. We thought we would gather them all into one letter to a Young Women presidency so you can understand the impact you have through Personal Progress. As you read, picture a young woman you know and love and think of ways you can encourage her on the path to the temple. Link
Personal Progress Online Tool:
Companionship with the Holy Ghost requires a qualification. Not only that, we must qualify for temple blessings. What are the temple blessings? Living together with your family forever.Virtuous living “at all times and in all things, and in all places” qualifies you for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Since the Holy Ghost does not dwell in unclean tabernacles, living a virtuous life is a prerequisite to having the companionship of the Holy Ghost and receiving the blessings of temple ordinances. ...Determine to partake worthily of the sacrament each week and fill your life with virtuous activities that will bring spiritual power. As you do this, you will grow stronger in your ability to resist temptation, keep the commandments, and become more like Jesus Christ. Determine what you can do daily to remain pure and worthy, and write your plan in your journal. Link
I like this one. I would like to modify it a bit to add math, science, and sports. It is interesting how they focus on one aspect of the arts. Why is that?Participate in a dance, speech, music, or drama performance at school, in your community, or at church. How did your participation in this activity strengthen your feelings of individual worth and self-confidence? Record your thoughts in your journal. Link

It won't be too hard to get out a pen and sit down with her to write in the margins of the PP book. Things like adding math, science, and sports in the Individual Worth chapter and then deleting the parts that say you have to qualify for companionship of the Holy Spirit. Maybe even go as far as change the words "Heavenly Father" out with "God".

I was under the impression that The Young Woman's Program was to Create top of the line young Women to help ease the Father's burden, and when It's time for the young Woman to be wed the father may get, let's say... 10 Cows.

It wasn't as important as the overall sexism and racism, but the change from the MIA Bandlo to the Personal Progress Report may have technically been the last straw for me. I remember being chagrined by the workbook's assumptions: that raising a family and being married in the temple were both horizon and limit. So different from earning "merit badges" in Art, Photography, Fashion Design and Literature and sewing them on a nicely embroidered sash.
I wish I could find a copy of that first PPR, I'd like the trip down memory lane...
