Despite the "letter of the law", both the scouts and the Church strive to follow the "spirit" of the law. The letter of the law is only enforced if there is an actual problem or issue, such as a scout preaching atheism or his "gayness".
Having a belief system that is contrary to other beliefs is not "prejudice". It's simply different beliefs. Prejudice has a specific behavior and ideological pattern behind it, which crosses into bigotry and immorality.
I really wish anti-mormons and liberals would stop misrepresenting the truth.
Wait, didn't the OP say that the Mormon Church called him to be involved with the scouts? Wouldn't you call that an imposition of a particular religion on scouting in the first place? Why would the LDS church have any influence on who would be involved with scouting?
I really wish rather dim TBM's would stop making silly statements.

What about the time I moved to a new neighborhood and joined a new troop and went through the initiation? The initiation was to be blindfolded then they lay you on the ground and take the blindfold off and you have an ass in your face and a little gas comes out of said ass.
Does that fit in with the missionary arm, or just the xtian nut case cause?

My RM, now exmo, brother told me stories of that exact same thing being done by 19 and 20 year old boys while on their missions.

Best to fulfill that calling. I think that someone serving as a Den leader could contribute greatly if they brought their non-discriminatory ideals to the meetings and made sure that no discriminatory practices be allowed to alienated or shame any Cub Scout while on their watch. Protect those Cubs.
There is always a need for good people to do good things.
Kids will take the tone given by the adults who are in charge of them. If nasty 'initiation' stuff takes place, the adults who let it happen need to feel responsible. That kind of stuff is no part of Scouts and Cubs, and it has no place in any other organization for that matter. It's just an excuse for a minority to enjoy sadism and obscenity.
This really matters: if you don't stamp on it hard, then the smartphone will ensure that in a decade's time some of those boys are on Youtube disgracing American uniform and helping get their buddies killed by outraged young Muslims looking for an excuse to become suicide bombers.
Hence the need for decent people to become cub leaders and teach boys how to grow up to be decent young men.

If private countryclubs want to exclude black people and Jews, they have every right to. Of course, others have every right to criticize them for doing it and recommend policy changes in the interest of bettering our world.
And any organization that engages in discrimination against agnostics/atheists should not receive government support at all. That includes things like selective access to public buildings like schools.

Are heterosexuals and theists required to keep their views and behaviors to themselves lest anyone find out? Would you be Ok if the scouts changed their policy so anyone caught being a Mormon was kicked out? After all, you could try to keep it to yourself.
