Yayoi Kusama's installation Fireflies on the Water.

My god. I love this.

Here's another link for another installation, this time in Sydney. (Requires Quicktime.)

That 360 degree picture is wonderful. The first pic I put up is closer to the version I saw: with yellow lights. It's a totally transporting installation: quite small but with the illusion of infinity. Usually only one person is allowed in at a time, because the walkway out over the black water (which you don't notice as water but as another mirror surface) is very narrow.

Is it at the Whitney right now?

No, but its one of the places I most want to go. I mostly know it from the use Godard make of it as a set in le Mepris.

No. I'm not sure which version was at the Whitney. I saw it in Chelsea in 2002, I think at Paula Cooper. A few years later it was shown at the Whitney. as far as I know, it's not in its permanent collection.

The Motor-Vu, St. Marys and old scenes from the Great Salt Lake!!! Keep these memories coming. Fond memories of seeing Ben-Hur, The Birds and Little Big Man to name a few at the Motor-Vu.

I saw so many things at the Motor-Vu, Moksha and If I recall correctly it was also one of the public places where the sugar cube polio vaccine was distributed.

It's so disappointing that St. Mary's was demolished. Had it stood a little longer, I'm sure it would have been retrofitted for some use, even if partitioned into apartments.
