Romney Falls to Gingrich in SC

What happened to Romney's insurmountable lead of 20% in the polls? Could it be people just don't want a Mormon with his finger on the Button?

Gingrich is just another yucky old republican fat cat. He doesn't stand a chance against Obama.

4 more years of Obama and that's just fine with me.

People sadly are tossed to and fro by every wind of thought......
They sadly are swayed by "eloquent words" rather than who is really the most qualified for the job. Not that Gingrich won't likely do fine, but Romney is so much more experienced and prepared for the job in what's needed. It's sad. It's sad that people are willing to forgive Gingrich, but not Romney. It's sad that they don't realize that Gingrich is actually more liberal and morally not qualified compared to Romney. It's sad many on the conservative side has adopted liberal views of Romney, falsely representing him.

And Paul O..... Your judgment is flawed. Obama will most certainly be beaten this election, no matter how's the Republican, but especially with Romney or Gingrich in there. Obama only won last time because of the black vote, and that people were simply wanting a change, something different. This time, well enough people see the damage he's done and will do, and thus they aren't going to make the same mistake twice. Yes, liberal lovers will always support their man, but everyone in the middle, those who actually determine elections, will not be voting Obama again.

To my ears Romney has been trying to crank up the right wing rhetoric but instead of sounding committed he has started sounding cranky, nasty and vain. Not a winning image.

Though I believe he will do the conservative things he promises to do, he doesn't have a conservative track record. Gingrich can claim the Republican revolution but for him it's a thin veneer compared to his overall voting record. However, Gingrich looks strong in the debates and what the GOP wants is a knockout punch and Gingrich has delivered that.

I think the GOP is tired of listing back and forth (witness the negligible effect of the Gingrich marriage scandal after Cain) and if Romney can't win Florida, I predict Romney can't win at all. Of course it's to the media's (and therefore Obama's) best interest to keep this thing in doubt for as long as possible and that could help Romney, but like I said, the GOP is tired of the media.

Romney also has not capitalized on the Christie endorsement, his strongest conservative talking point.

Gingrich is just another yucky old republican fat cat. He doesn't stand a chance against Obama.

You're right, but he is better than Obama by far. But the GOP will be making the same mistake as they did in 2008 when they picked McCain. I don't see him beating Obama either.

Whatever.

How about you throw this post back in my face after the general election? We shall see if you are right, but I doubt it. You tend to say stupid things: "Everyone in the middle, those who actually determine elections, will not be voting for Obama", -- and just how do you figure everyone in the middle won't be voting for Obama? That's quite a blanket statement.

And, I think you'll find blacks generally voting for Obama again and there will be enough votes from the center to keep him in office.

Ugh. Gingrich. If he gets the nom, I'm not even gonna vote. Or maybe I'll go vote for some third-party nobody.

Is Nader running this year?

Yep and I'm rubbing my hands with Glee. Too many Americans are turned off by the mere image of that greasy fat cat who many feel is part of the reason why this country is broken.

People want change. They don't want the same old song and dance. McCain and Gingrich are old faces and Americans are pretty upset right now with the system. Someone has to take the blame. I don't see Obama taking the blame this time around. I think Americans will give him another 4 years to make good on him promises to fix the system.

Can someone explain to this Canadian what this means? I thought Romney won in the past two primaries? If he loses (or lost) SC, what does this mean for the leadership race?
