why me wrote:If she was deceitful in her belief to her husband, this would be a huge betrayal of his trust. One can even compare it to Joseph Smith's hiding polygamy from emma....

But she must also see the similiarities between her and joseph if so.

Seriously? Let's see...

What did Joseph stand to gain by not disclosing polygamy to Emma? Sex with multiple partners. Sure, I know the story, angel, flaming sword, rock and a hard place, yada, yada, yada. Somehow I think that a man who communed with Jehovah would have the courage to tell the truth to his wife.

What does Just Me stand to gain by not fully disclosing her lack of belief to her TBM husband? Sex with multiple... no wait...

Seriously, where do you come up with this stuff?

As Runtu said in an earlier posting: "(Why Me) is happy to live life on his terms, but he condemns others for doing the same thing." Don't you see that contrast in yourself? Is it the fact that you are a believer so you get to live life on your terms?

Dude. Seriously.

I didn't buy her post. Too many loose ends for me. I have been upfront with my activity and with my involvement in church. I have told people and been at church and all know not to ask me to give talks and to not call me to positions. I make my comments in class without fear and at times I create a good discussion. I just expect people who judge the LDS church to be honest with who they are in church and at home.

I would like people to be caring and decent, not creepy and judgmental, but I don't expect it, let alone tell them they have to be the way I want them to be.

That is because he chose inactivity over keeping the peace, and what did it get him? A failed marriage and a judgemental soul.

Well, liz, I am certainly no coward. I put my cards on the table and maybe the exwife did not like an inactive husband. But I was authentic in my authentic freedom and it was worth it. I do have a right when people claim freedom and yet, they cannot see that they are not free. I am no hypocrite.

I have lived my life as I saw fit. And I certainly can take the punches. No problem there.

And yet, you are very judgemental of Joseph Smith, right? Double standard? Did just me lie to her husband by faking belief? I have no idea. But she is silent on the issue.

You don't see a difference between going to church to keep the peace and creating a bogus religion out of whole cloth? Really? You're attempting to equate sitting quietly in sacrament meeting with demanding sex from one's followers? Yikes.

I've never said that Joseph Smith "needed" to do anything. Of course I feel justified in expressing my disapproval of much of what he did, but that is a far cry from meddling in someone's family life and calling them dishonest and hypocritical because they don't behave as you wish.

Did just me lie to her husband by faking belief? I have no idea. But she is silent on the issue.

I've been where she has been. There's nothing wrong with deciding that your family's wishes Trump your own "freedom."

Not only is there nothing wrong with it, but I have always understood this to be the commitment that decent responsible people make as part of marriage and parenthood.

I can quite see why you wanted to comment on that stupid little sample of whyme, and what you say carries conviction, but since nothing you post will ever make any difference to him, I feel moved at this time to bear my testimony of the 'ignore' feature. I know it is true. Once you take up the wonderful promise of salvation it offers, you will be truly blessed, as I have been.

I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

I didn't use the "Foes" feature until about a week or two ago. It's starting to fill up. Thanks for the timely reminder.

Now chap...let me explain myself: there is not such thing as free because our lives are usually controlled by others and things. That was my point. Should parents allow children to influence their lives. Of course. But that person who allows it is not free. And that was my point. Free from church? perhaps. But free? no.

Actually I have no idea if she lied to her husband or not. She is silent on it. However, if she did, it will be a big blow to him regardless how understandable it was. And remember runtu I have always claimed that Joseph Smith was between a rock and a hard place with polygamy and emma and I could understand him not coming clean about it. Likewise for just me. But...one can not be judgemental about Joseph Smith and not see one's own actions in a similiar light.
