It would seem that the strength and frequency and duration of the messages to teens is directly proportionate to the speed and volume with which 18 to 30 year olds turn to inactivity.

I would tend to agree. The solution rather comes from the parents and the example they set and the teachings they provide in the home. A kid with only one parent or parents who are disinterested or not involved, either with the kid or with the Church, is at a severe handicap for belief and testimony in the Church.

It was about 1/3 talks about seminary and 2/3 BKP telling the youth that never acting upon those alone-time feelings will keep you not guilty. He spoke about urges and gender and how you should never tamper with those life giving powers of your body.

This of course is a huge exaggeration. After having watched it myself, I counted much less than a minute of the latter and several minutes on gender. The latter is good reminder of what the doctrine is on homosexuality which many critics seem to have forgotten or think has somehow changed.

This is just another sign that my theory is correct: someone high up in the church is trying to destroy the church from within by turning everything into one long sacrament meeting.

I wonder if the Church realizes how ineffective it is to have an octogenarian give talks to teenagers about chastity?

I am torn Buf. I do not want to see Packer outlive Monson but Packer's talks are can't miss TV. When he is gone there will be little difference between conference talks and LDS newsroom bulletins. Both will put you to sleep.

Obviously not. But the list of things that the Brethren do that is ineffective is long and varied. That's what happens when you are out of touch of what is real. Their day of influence is long past.

We need to find a different method of retiring our leaders. Medical advances have made it so that they are in power long after their abilities and effectiveness is past.
