Dang dude, we've got enough plastic surgeons here- you shouldn't have any trouble finding one- judging by your avatar, you need a little work here and there. ;-)
Are you suggesting that my photo is less than handsome? You should see the real me :).
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

I suppose that if this was a former muslim board, there would be threads about why pray on beads. If this was a former catholic board, there would be threads about why pray on beads. If this was a former jewish board, there would be threads about garments too since some jews wear garments. If this were a buddhist board, there would be threads about why have a fat man smiling statue.
What is the point?
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

The catholic church tells its members that they should pray on beads as much as possible. The muslim faith tells its members that they should pray on beads and that women should be covered. Our bosses tell us what to do everyday of our working lives and at times, it can seem controlling.
Such is life.

I learned from church and from my parents to pretend. We pretend we are fine. We pretend we don't have problems within the walls of our homes. We pretend that everything is hunky dory.
Why do Mormons have to pretend? Why aren't we comfortable telling others how unhappy we are or that bad things are happening in our lives?
.
Pretending is a way of life for the great majority of people. We pretend to be satisfied at work. We pretend to be happy at home. We pretend to be something that we are not in social settings. We pretend and pretend because of various reasons. But with a select few we don't need to pretend. Such is life. Our lives are full of pretending....just watch the movies that are on TV. People are pretending to be something that they are not. And for most of the time we like the pretending. Children are taught to pretend in school by using their imagination. It is apart of our human nature.

Of course, the problem comes when you realize that you are pretending in every aspect of your life.

And that happens too. Pretening at home, pretending at work, pretending among friends. People in the USA love to pretend at success. So why wouldn't it be true for some american Mormons at church?

So, let me get this straight. You think pretending is the natural state for most people, yet you excoriate just_me for pretending. Something isn't right here.

Most people pretend many times per day. It is not just a Mormon thing. It is a life thing. My problem with just me and Mormon pretending is that Mormon pretending is not unique. It goes across the board. Just me also pretended to be a good member of the church up until a week ago or so.
