Peterson and Hamblin's work in their fields may be decent (I don't know), but the crap they routinley write for Mormon Apologetics is of the same quality as Kevin Christensen's aborted writings. I've come to the opinion that Mormon Apologetics should be considered synonmous with low quality thought and content.

LOL, Phaedrus, I don't know what to say. KC questioned the honesty of Bloom in a very polemical way; one that would get a MDD poster banned if the statement were directed toward a senior Mopologist or ranking Mopologist-friendly church official. I'm actually a bit surprised by that as he's always been a cut above his comrades when it comes to civility. Not even the apples near the rim of the Mopologist basket can avoid the rot from the bottom forever, I suppose.

If I were KC, I'd send a message to the Mods asking them to unban you and I would point out that your statement was more mild than the comments it corrected. I would also thank you for cautioning me on rhetorical excess.

They lost one of their best participants today, Phaedrus.

Out of curiosity I logged in today to see if my post privileges were still revoked on the site for my outrageous behavior. And yes I still can't post on the site.

Is this typical behavior these days?

Who IS America's greatest literary critic? (Note: I am not arguing for Bloom; I truly am ignorant on the subject and respect your opinion on such things).

Phaedrus: How could you post for seven years in that cesspool? Ugh.

Yes it is. It's also typical behavior for all previous days, too.

That is a good question. I rarely pay attention to strictly "literary" criticism, and of course, Bloom is not technically just a "literary critic" anyway.

There are any number of people who talk about literature in interesting ways. I'm not interested in making a list of the greatest, but I've been looking at Andreas Huyssen a lot recently because some of his work overlaps with Cultural Memory Studies. I could probably come up with a few more names if you are really interested. I'll have a think and try to remember to get back to this thread...

I never have been banned from there. However, I usually left before it got to that point. And I rarely even go there to read. It inflames every anti-Mormon nerve of my body. Why put myself through that?

Having been banned for as trivial an issue as your example myself, I do empathize with your confusion and frustration.
If defies logic to chase off good, long standing posters, but whatever.
In looking at the post in question, it appears to be a suspension, not a ban. Just slapping your hands and keeping you in your place.
Still confused and frustrated every time I hear of these.
