Bible Study

Post by _Stormy Waters »

I think the Bible doesn't get quoted enough around here, so I'd like to start a thread dedicated to the study of the Bible!

I'd like to dedicate this verse to my broken marriage. Thanks Jesus!
Matthew 10:34-37
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that cloveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

The lesson here is that Jesus breaks up families! Remember not to love your children more then God! Remember not to love your wife more than God! Because if you do you'll be "unworthy" of him. And always remember God is an egomaniac.... I mean great. God is great.

Feel free to share your favorite Bible verses!

With all the talk about bigotry today, it reminded me of another scripture from the Bible!

Today we read form Matthew chapter 15.

"15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
15:25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour."

Isn't wonderful to know that God has his favorite children? But if you're not one of his favorite children do not fear! He considers you a dog. Man's best friend! Isn't God a bigot.. I mean great. Isn't God great?
Here's praying that you're one of God's chosen people!

Isn't it wonderful to study God's word? There are just so many verses that are close to my heart!

Today we study in Leviticus 26:21 - 22 "And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children"
Isn't it wonderful that God provides incentives for us to obey? He cares about us so much that he is willing to threaten the lives of our children! If that doesn't get us to follow him I don't know what will!

Hello Again! Another wonderful opportunity to study God's word! Today's verse is similar to the last one!

Today we study another verse from God's word.
"And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat." Leviticus 26:28-29

God wants us to obey! Here again he see him threatening the lives of our children to get us to listen! Only this time he's taken a step further! He's threatening to make us eat our own children if we disobey him! Isn't this such great incentive to follow his commandments? He loves us sooooo much!

I love to study the word of God don't you?

Here is a oldie but goodie
Exodus
"31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."

Again God want us to obey his commandments! Here he commands the death penalty for working the sabbath day. It's a shame that we don't live this law today. Just think of how easy it would be to obey the commandments if we knew we would killed for disobeying!

God is good!

Today we study in 2 Kings
"2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them."

Isn't it good to know that God will protect his chosen people! Even from mild teasing! He will have bears come and tear them to pieces! Even if they are children! I don't know about you, but I'm glad to know that God will murder those who insult poor bald people.

Hello again, I'm here to share the endless wisdom that comes from the fountain of the Bible! Today we study in Exodus!

"Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts." Exodus 11:4 - 5

Isn't it great that Good will go the distance for his people! Even using methods most would consider to be grossly unneeded and barbaric! He will do anything for us! Even if it means singling out the children for wholesale slaughter! Not everyone! Just the Fistborn! He sure does know how to get people to listen!

Those must be all the parts that weren't translated correctly. Good thing the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price don't have such things in them. And I'm sure Joseph Smith corrected those passages in his Inspired Version. Right?
"The Church is authoritarian, tribal, provincial, and founded on a loosely biblical racist frontier sex cult."--Juggler Vain
"The LDS church is the Amway of religions. Even with all the soap they sell, they still manage to come away smelling dirty."--Some Schmo

I just can't stop sharing the good word of God!

Here is another one of my favorite verses!
To punish David for his affair with Bathsheba and for Killing Uriah "The Lord struck the child that Uriah’s wife bare unto David, and it was very sick. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died." 2 Samuel 12:15 - 18.

God sure knows how to teach people a lesson! Here again we see him leveraging children to make his point! I'm sure David learned his lesson after watching this child suffer for seven days before finally dying! I bet he never forgot! God is a great teacher!
