Aristotle: If you have a compelling argument you can make which explains why it is proper to discard the items in list 'a' while accepting and believing in the items in list 'b', I would certainly be willing to consider it.

List 'a'
  1. Astrology
  2. Pyramid Power
  3. Crystal Power
  4. Ancient Astronauts
  5. UFOs and 'Rods'
  6. Homeopathy
  7. Leprechauns
  8. Pegasus (Pegasi?)
  9. Unicorns
  10. Loch Ness Monster
  11. Sasquatch
  12. Fairies

List 'b'
  1. Transubstantiation
  2. Immaculate conception
  3. Water into wine
  4. Healing of lepers, blind
  5. 5 loaves, 2 fish, feeding the multitude
  6. Cursing the fig tree
  7. The salt pillar that was once Lot's wife
  8. Talking Donkeys
  9. Anti-Baldness-defamation attack-she-bears
  10. Noah's flood/ark
  11. Tower of Babel
  12. Adam/Eve/Garden of Eden

Believers,

If you do not agree with the two statements shown in the graphic on the OP, exactly what is it about them that you see as false?
David Hume: "---Mistakes in philosophy are merely ridiculous, those in religion are dangerous."

DrW: "Mistakes in science are learning opportunities and are eventually corrected."

As a non-believer, I don’t get why faith has to be explained in such unflattering terms. Even if that is what faith was to you, that is still not how many (if not most) believers would characterize it.

Hey BC (To be super clear- BC is for beefcalf and not that other one) :)

I appreciate the invitation but I am afraid that I am far too gone from rational thought to be worthy of membership in your group. (Perhaps I can visit every now and then though)

You'd fit right in!

Round peg, sqaure hole! :)

You would, of course, be asked to leave unsupported and unsupportable assertions at the door, but, heck! you might be better off without them.

Assertions?

Do tell?

Ahh... yes. Well, don't worry so much about that clause... it isn't aimed at you specifically. It is simply the one thing that defines our maligned little group. I make no judgement about whether you are prone to the spouting of unsupported/unsupportable assertions... it's simply that, once inside, any that are spouted will be quickly dealt with.
Rules of the house, you see...

This is not a limited-time-offer. At any future time you wish to join us, the door will be open.

Hey again, BC

Are you sure you're not a believer? :)

It is simply the one thing that defines our maligned little group.

I know.

Beliefs are beliefs (No matter if one believes in a Creator or one does not believe in a Creator. They are both equally and simply beliefs. Yes?)

it's simply that, once inside, any that are spouted will be quickly dealt with.

Fair enough!

Rules of the house, you see...

I do see.

Appreciated.

Please know that the door is open for you as well, should you ever wish to join us. :)

(Who said it was impossible for a believer and a non-believer to have a mutual rewarding conversation) :) :) :)
