My thoughts exactly!
by the way Chap, I really enjoy (and often find) your contributions/perspectives/opinions that you share on this board to be sound, reasonable, and very worthy of the time required to read them. (For what ever that might be worth) :)
The ironic thing is Mormonism actually believes all other religions will be wiped off the face of the earth when Christ comes. So Mormonism actually has a final solution as part of their doctrine.

There's a difference between wiping a religion off the face of the earth, and wiping the members off the face of the earth.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I could have put that observation in the form of a three-letter word, of course, but you might not have got the point.
Did Ray's OP suggest that folks here wanted to wipe out members of the Mormon Church?
I didn't read it that way. He said wipe out Mormonism, the religion..not the people.

What would be so terrible if the population of Utah was just a mix of devout Baptists, Lutherans, Catholics, maybe some Episcopalians too? Apart from the fact that many of them would have 10% more income to spend, of course.
Probably not that much. What is bad and wrong in Mormonism pretty well mirrors what is bad and wrong in American culture. People are going to glom on to whatever belief system justifies their predispositions. It is human nature.

I know you're not a stemelbow sock puppet but this is uncanny....

As far as Mormonism bashing goes, I think we are in the minor league. Has anyone spent any time on the Mormon Recovery Board?
I'm all for it. The entirety of humanity would be better off with the elimination of this Bigoted, Racist, Misogynistic, Apartheid based, Ponzi based, Black Magic based, Orwellianistic, Communistic, evil Empire. There is not a SINGLE value to the Mormon Church.
You can't force a person not to believe something.
Intellectually I'd be delighted to see all Mormons everywhere cease their belief in the church, just as I'd be delighted to see all other forms of religious believers cease their belief in whatever their fantasyland of choice is.
Pragmatically, however, I think there would be a lot of unanticipated fallout, and I would guess that it would cause a lot of problems for a lot of people, so I hesitate actually to desire or wish for that end.
And I certainly would oppose any attempts of a nature such that "Final Solution" references would be apt.
Overall, this whole thread is a FAIL.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
