I think this is a great idea. I have to wonder if Romney is elected President, he will run the Church.

This thread has given me an idea for dealing with door knocking missionaries.

"No, I'm not interested in your Church right now, but I will review your proposition once I'm dead and you've posthumously baptised me."

You may come when I am not here!

If he is reading your posts, he might well volunteer without any preconditions. ;)

When you all were members, you had no problems with this practice. In fact, you all believed in it. Now that you all are out, it has become a big whine. Why? Should jews be exempted from baptism and if so, why? What difference does it make if someone died in the holocaust and is baptised? And why does the LDS church do this? Is it because they are mean and disrespectful or it is because they are concerned about the welfare of these spirits. I think that it is the latter and not the former.

The fact that the Church has seen fit to publicly apologise (third time now) for this and commit to stopping it happening means that they officially agree with us whiners as opposed to you.

Strange most americans had no idea who Monson is until this idiot did his sensationalism with the baptism for the dead segment. The crap is so american. News commentators are becoming entertainers for an idiot population.

Well, accidents happen. What to do? If the church is true, Simon is happy with the precedure. If the church is false, what does it matter? The Isrealis kill innocent palestinians on the west bank and america doesn't give a crap. They also steal their land for increasing the settlement population which is now 320,000. No american cares including Obermann. In my book that makes someone in the Isreali government worsest. But where is obermann? Silent.

If some shaman wants to pretend that I am part of his heavenly congregation, I don't see that it harms me in the least. I find this to be a ridiculous misunderstanding. Spiritual conversion in the afterlife is completely voluntary in Mormon doctrine. The baptism will mean nothing but an act of devotion and compassion unless the person consents to conversion in that world. What's the beef? I don't get it. I think it's sad that people would bully the Mormons about a religious practice that harms exactly no one.
