That's not the reason I think it's a joke since I've heard of things like this happening before. As I said, the reason I think it may have been a joke is because of the timing and method in which the note was presented.

Yes, all those damn monolithic, shoebox-ready Mormons are hypocritical Pharisees.

Glad you agree.

Just for your information, the young woman involved in this story has a blog and recently posted her thoughts on the whole thing. You can find the post here.

This part called out to me:

One girl told me that during her D&C class, a boy called her out, in front of the WHOLE class saying her shirt was inappropriate. She said she was so embarrassed and pretty upset by it. For a boy to call a girl out in front of everyone is so sad. especially in a religion class!

I could post the rude messages from random people saying that it is MY fault that the church is being talked badly about it. But I wont. To them and others, I apologize. I learned my lesson about the power of social media, and I feel bad if you are offended or annoyed by this story... I really had no intention of it becoming this big.

The issue of clothing modesty is a perennial thing at BYU. Hopefully, this can shed some light of sensitivity on the issue, which I see as being less one of modesty and more one of socially encouraged priggishness. Maybe this will draw support for the women who must endure it.

Hope the rest of your friends stay at BYU is pleasant and without reprisal.

It's not like the church encourages this type of behavior. If they are learning it from their church lessons, they probably attend one of those rogue wards we hear so much about.

My thoughts exactly! Probably has a corset piercing on her back as well as a tattoo featuring two Asian women making out over a bong. Heck, might even have fishhook nipple piercings that she never removes, even when playing vollyball at the local naked swinger's ranch. Yes, there is a lot you can hypothesize about a woman who lets a little bit of her chest show and wears provocative leggings.

Well, that is probably what the strange little man who wrote the note thinks.

Why is she apologizing to these people? For sharing a story that might reflect negatively on the culture at BYU?

After it started getting more and more shares, I got nervous. I was literally shaking. I didn't want to get in trouble with BYU and I didn't want my friends, and random people to think that I was mocking the honor code.

To me this reveals another aspect of the culture at BYU. Why is she nervous? In my experience, any criticism of the honor code is frowned upon, and some bishops can be pretty shameless about using the endorsement as leverage to keep you in check.

it's either that or get kicked out of BYU, mid semester.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Do they still teach cursive?
Even thirty years ago when when I was in college I printed. It was a lot more legible than my cursive.
I have 5 boys in their 20's. I have never seen any of them write in cursive.

I'm not sure "Why Me" knows cursive.

This sounds right up his alley.
