Post by _moksha »

Did you know that Utah County is the most Mormon part of the United States? We are talking numbers here and not sheer zealotry! Find out the scoop on Slate.com:

Penguin That Winks (Lamanite name), do we know if this statistical report represents all Mormons or Adult Mormons?

I think Mormon membership names are on record after baptism, so while not inclusive this may include those from 8 to adulthood. If this were limited to those claiming membership solely on a census form, then Mormon numbers would be underreported from Church records.

From Wikipedia:

A majority of the state's residents are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). As of 2007, 60.7% of Utahns are counted as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, although only 41.6% of them are active members.[9][33] Mormons now make up about 34%–41% of Salt Lake City,

If the figures are stating that only 41.6% of Mormons are active, that makes the total below 50%. I never thought that would have happened when I lived there.

The percentage is even lower in SLC. Whoda thunk it?
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
