Celestial Dating Standards-Is the church relaxing standards?
Here they are: http://www.sugardoodle.net/Dating/18%20rules%20for%20celestial%20dating.shtml
Has anybody ever had these discussed in church? One of the high councilors in the single's ward I am attending discussed these in a combined men and women lesson. I was sitting next to my girlfriend at the time (we definitely don't follow these standards) and it was very uncomfortable for her and for me.
I just find it strange that church members are still discussing this stuff. The church released a new For Strength of Youth pamphlet online recently. Here is the section on Sexual Purity. I noticed that the new version is much less strict than the old one. The old one was much more explicit and said things like "couples should not lay on top of one another", while the new pamphlet simply restricts "sexual relations" and leaves the interpretation of what that is up to one's own interpretation.
Knowing that the church seems to be relaxing it's standards a bit, I found it interesting that the celestial dating standards were still being brought up. No backrubs? Really? While my girlfriend and I aren't having sex, we are pretty passionate with each other. I am in the situation where I am seriously questioning the church, and my girlfriend is not.
Do any of you have any experience with the "celestial dating standards"? Or any comments on the church relaxing it's standards?

Your girlfriend is TBM? You aren't sure about the church? How old are y'all?
I don't see the church relaxing the dating standards. LDS couples are engaging in the same activities they always have been. Some keep very strict to their interpretation of the standards-no passionate kissing, no being alone together, no touching where clothing touches, etc. Others engage in all types of sexual activity. And everything in between.

Reminds me of the question as what the majority of Catholic women who use birth control do. The answer is carry around a lot of guilt rather than kids.

OMG! That is exactly what I was going to say. Indeed, the boy needs to forget about the stupid standards made up by a bunch of old men in Salt Lake and start living for himself! Show his girlfriend a good time and enjoy the pleasures of his own body.

I was looking for something else by the same artist, but this still kinda captures it. Not Safe for Work, Family, Younger Kids, or Recently Married People Living In La-La Honeymoon Land
ETA: I couldn't find a good quality clip of the piece I was looking for but I did find the transcript. Slightly edited.

Men lie, we live lies. That's why we so crazy. Every now and then, we catch ourselves living a lie. We create a whole lie-world around us.
For instance, every man in this room is hiding some porno in his house. Every man in here got a pornography stash in the crib. That's right. Not an illegal amount, just enough to get you by. Thank you. And when we hide porno, we go all out. lt ain't behind the refrigerator or under the bed. No, we become Batman when it's time to hide some porno. That's right, you hit the light switch, the whole bookshelf shifts to the side. You go down two flights of stairs into your porno cellar. Janet Jackme, Kobe Tai, Jenna Jameson, that's right.
But women always find the porno. But they don't find it in the porno hiding place. Oh, no. Where do women find the porno at? ln the VCR. And fellas are like, ''Damn, how can l be so dumb to leave it in the VCR?''
l'll tell you why. 'Cause when you're jerking off, you ain't in your right state of mind. Your brain's all cloudy and foggy. l'll tell you exactly what happened. One day, your woman left early. You had the whole house to yourself. So you said, ''Let me get a little jerk before work.'' So you in the house, getting your jerk on. Nice good jerk, too. You know, that ain't-nobody-in-the-house jerk. That's a good jerk. lt ain't like that somebody-in-the-next-room jerk. That's a bad jerk. That's like, ''Who's that?'' l don't like that jerk. l'm talking about the good jerk, that nobody-ain't-home jerk. So you get the Vaseline ready... and you just look at your dick and go: ''Scream if you want to. No one's gonna hear.''
And right then, your relationship's in trouble. That's right. 'Cause if you can't share what you're like, you'll have problems. When you love somebody, you got to love everything about them. You got to love the crust of a motherbleep. You can't just love the white part of the bread. You gotta love the crust, the crumbs, the tiny crumbs at the bottom of the toaster. That's what the real motherbleep is. Whatever you into, your woman gotta be into, too, and vice versa... or the stuff ain't gonna work. lt ain't gonna work. That's right. lf you born-again, your woman gotta be born-again, too. lf you a crackhead, your woman gotta be a crackhead, too... or the stuff won't work. You can't be like, ''l'm going to church, where you going?'' ''Hit the pipe!'' That relationship ain't going nowhere.
Two crackheads can stay together forever.
When I read the OP, the first thought through my mind was, "Ya gotta love the crust of the mother....."

My wife took the "no backrubs" command to heart. [cry] Every Sunday, I would watch in envy as other Priesthood holders would have their backs rubbed. Usually, the closer you sat to the front, the more likely you were to get a back rub. Unluckily for me, the front row wouldn't even get me a little scratch.
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

The backrubs almost make sitting in those uncomfortable pews bearable. I think the church would go a long way just to invest in more comfortable chairs.
