Big Bang - Evolution

Post by _Ceeboo »

Good day fellow Creationists, agnostics, and random gas mixtures who have commmon descendants that spontaneously formed life from non life. :)

I recently had an opportunity to have dinner with a self proclaimed nonbeliever (or in my opinion, a believer in something different than what I happen to believe)

Anyway, I don't know him very well (It was a business meeting/gathering) and someone else had mentioned that I am a believer in a Creator/God. This simple fact seemed to bother this person quite a bit (to say the least) and he began to express/teach/lecture me for the next 90 minutes or so. Whenever there was a moment of pause on his part (rare as it was), I would offer a few words and returned to my listening position while chewing on a delicious steak.

Here (the short version) are the facts that he was trying to teach me.

20 billion years ago, the Big Bang was the cause of our Uviverse. (He taught me that everything in our universe, at the time of this, was much smaller than a penny)
4.5 billion years ago, our earth (as well as everything else in our universe) was formed as a result of the Big Bang.
3.9 billion years ago, the first living thing just came to life (simple/single cell life)

Ever since then, life has slowly and gradually evolved into all we see today.

Do I have this about right?

Thanks and peace,
Ceeboo

Well, the earth wasn't formed directly as a result of the big bang. I suppose everything goes back to the big bang eventually. But more directly:

My understanding is that the Big Bang happened around 13.75 billion years ago, not 20. But otherwise, all seems to be in order. And yes, God did it.

Genesis 1:1 makes no mention of any big bang, though. It's almost as if God doesn't know how he created it all.

That's right, He doesn't give the details. But he does say He created the heavens and if we also know it was accomplished via the Big Bang, then God did it.

And what details he gives are totally wrong.
