These are all great. I'm most in love with the first of your set. Are you taking any requests?

Blixa wrote:I've been working with my MDB Secret Santa tablet and stylus. Though I did draw the MDB avatars with a drawing program and mouse, getting hand/eye coordination with the tablet took a little bit of time---but not much. I've been drawing this and that, but somehow ended up using people from a street fashion blog as models. First I worked on textile shading and kept the faces flat; for the last few drawings, though, I've been working on shaded, modeled faces.

Drawing has been really relaxing and therapeutic and its been fun to work on gaining different skills. Ultimately, I'm not that invested in ultra realistic drawing; had I been drawing fashion illustration I would have kept the faces flat and worked out an even more stylized approach. But its fun to try new things.

Here's some of the most recent sketches and a link to a complete montage that shows my learning curve (though the image will only load fairly small since it's so wide).

Stunning! I can appreciate the hours you must have put in.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Brooksie?

That would be glorious!

I was actually thinking of 1820 European fashion. I've been working on it but it is proving more difficult than expected.

I'm not a huge fan of Regency costume, despite my love of the Brontes. It's too night-gowny for my tastes and the close fit of the bodice above the high waist always looks tight and binding to me. Especially under the arms.

Anyway, I found a portrait from the era which featured a lush brocade shawl. So I used that for a sketch. I'm going to leave it like this, because it doesn't really grab me the way other things do. If I were going to spend more time with it, I could bring out the pattern on the brocade better, but this gives an impression of the parts of the outfit I liked the most: the shawl, the neckerchief and the coral beads:

by the way Just Me, the simple act of taking a shower has forever changed in my mind since reading your little story.

Yes.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it was efficiently voyeuristic. Well done!
