Purdy said it is not clear why the restriction on blacks holding the priesthood was put in place, or why it was lifted in 1978, but that attempts to explain the restriction should be "viewed as speculation and opinion, not doctrine."

I just had an epiphany.

The reason the Curse of Cain people were not allowed to hold the priesthood was so that in the latter days when no other ethnic identity would allow there ancestors to be Proxy baptized Mormon, the Curse of Cain people, now Uncurse of Cained could make it so pasty old white people in Utah could still have something to do on Fridays and Saturdays.

How marvelous the Simple Truths of the Mormon Gospel are.
