Doesn't this put you in the awkward position of refuting a divine revelation from the Prophet?
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

So, maybe god ain't telling the prophets anything at all.

Maklelan,
You can see how this position can be used to question anything the 1st presidency might say. How do we know their recent statements on Gay marriage aren't also just another misguided opinion?
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

We don't, and I personally don't believe gay marriage is a threat to anything.

What is more important than that?
Feeding the hungry, administering to the sick, proclaiming the gospel, redeeming the dead, perfecting the saints, and some other stuff. On the other hand, I don't think there's any indication that the policy was installed by God, and I thus see little chance that he's going to own up to it.

See above.
just me wrote:And, does he have a quota or something where he can only tell the prophets so many things before he puts them on ignore?
Don't know.
Great news! Good to hear, maklelan. Now, just one request. Please point us to a statement from the current prophet or any of the Big 15 that God has, in fact, told them anything specific on any of those matters.

I went downtown yesterday, have not been there in a while. Apparently he has asked them to put City Creek Center advertisments on the TRAX trains ... there were lots of them
As far as we can tell, it's false, but that doesn't mean they didn't believe it.
How are you so sure the men are at fault here and God wasn't just being an ass?
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

Like he was with polygamy?
Exactly.
