Of course they don't mention skin color. It's not something you can reliable use to determine race. That is why the ban was based on race/decent. There fore by definition it was racist. Most here believe you know you are being dishonest. Do you really think you have any credibility left here.

Someone at Central Headquarters needs to view the John Dehlin podcast with Darius Gray and Margaret Blair Young. Gray and Young discuss precisely where, when and why this curse business originated. Remember the more informed your are, the better the quality of inspiration you will have.

Naturally if the church actually had a prophet, or a decent explanation for their racism, you would be using that as evidence to prove me wrong instead of exercising your outdated crusade against anonymity.

Once upon a time a respected academic and professor of the liberal arts realized that he had been wasting his life by playing World of Warcraft for most of his adult and teen life. So, he swore it off. And then, instead of immersing himself in the literature of his profession and the beautiful things of life, he registered anonymously on a World of Warcraft board to hurl insults at the way the game uses shotguns when it should haven been offering machine guns. Finally, his university demanded to know what he was spending his time on instead of publishing, and he was exposed for the silly fool that he was. A bitter, frivolous man.

Indeed. Disobedience is the key here and ostensibly, that was before the black skin. No racism.

More dishonesty from bcspace, not to mention racist. They were banned based on race/decent. They were incorrectly thought to be descended from Cain(a fictitious character in the Bible). The op states he is embarrassed for the church, but many good members would be more embarrassed of you.

Yahoo Bot, is this information gleened through the Maxwell Center/NSA joint data sharing efforts? Knew hiring so many BYU grads would pay off. Now they are building the largest electronic spy network in the world on the Utah County border next to Camp Williams. Soon you will be able to reel off what all of us had for breakfast this morning. Such intimidation is priceless (or at least worth 3-5 billion when completed).

I knew another guy who had this really hilarious comedy show that he liked. He watched reruns of it on TV, and bought some seasons of it on DVD. He liked to talk about it with his friends, too, because they also enjoyed the pure comedy gold. He and his friend found it to be an enjoyable diversion; a nice source of entertainment and laughs in their spare time.

The people who were participants on the show took it extremely seriously and didn't realize they were on a comedy show. But that just made it even funnier.

Yahoo Bot, would you call the following "open speculation"?:
The attitude of the Church with reference to the Negroes remains as it has always stood. It is not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord, on which is founded the doctrine of the Church from the days of its organization, to the effect that Negroes may become members of the Church but that they are not entitled to the priesthood at the present time.

That's from the official statement issued by the First Presidency in 1949.

I like it. Vague implications of some kind of threat, decorating the tired old theme of 'left the church but can't leave it alone'. Warmed-over hash, sprinkled with a bit of chili to mask the staleness.

Yes, and I think a lot of members who have spouted off various forms of racist ideology over the years will now be having to eat their words, and about time too....

Hopefully the leaders won't be giving a nod and a wink to the faithful at the next general conference.
